IAC on 496 question...
Hey Team: Anyone have any insight regarding issues with the IAC (Idle Air Controller) on a Mercruiser 496? I've just repowered and the "whistling" is telling the mechanic that the IAC is bad. Re-powering to a Mercruiser 496
Hey Team: I'm biting the bullet and re-powering my '98 454 to a Merc 496. (I'll just say water in the manifolds and move on....) Has any one done this? Any gotchas I should be aware of? I'm thinking something just isn't going to line up right.... Any "heads up" is greatly...- SEASTHEDAY

Good Day Team: I'm considering re-powering my 1998 Mercruiser 454 MPI Gen VI to a Mercruiser 496 375 HP. Need some pointers... I'm not interested in the new 8.2, just the 8.1. I just learned within the last week... (Defender sale) ...about a guy who did a rebuild on his two 454s last...- SEASTHEDAY
