Do any of you guys carry spare parts with you - if so what? I carry a tool kit, screws, tape, epoxy that sort of stuff but stop short of actual parts. A friend has recommended that I carry a spare fan belt, couple of the water sensors etc. Just to let me get home if anything happens - but that's...
Under the starboard side v-seat. But basically we leave the berth set up as a bed, the likelihood of sitting down there and using the table is, like, zero.
While we're on this type of thing, does anyone know why there are hinges on the wooden bit between the v-berth and the bathroom bulkhead? It...
I should add that the wiper arm was already loose... my bad. And the really bad day was not out of choice, we had to get the boat back from the river to the pen (marine) and were committed before we realised how bad it was, turning around, we figured was worse than pushing on. It was only about...
Had the same problem on our old bowrider, found knotting a tea towel (drying up cloth) around it worked a treat... Don't take it off, you'll regret it instantly
SR are reasonably popular here - both as ex-US imports (usually still 110V) and locally sourced via authorised dealers (at about a gazillion dollar markup on the US Prices, but all 240V converted). A lot of local boaties view them as "lake" boats and since most local boating is openwater they...
I agree the table is a bit high. But the shape of the support makes it impossible to lower it. We don't bother with the clips etc when storing it, takes up too much room, just chuck it in on top o whatever else is in there (life jackets, ropes etc).
Thanks kaz911 - now I'm all excited again :smt038
That is non-intuitive. So as I get it from your post: starboard list, press the button that indicates what will happen is port bow (the bit of the boat currently highest) up.... (Must be because I'm in the southern hemisphere and thinking...
I have the 2010 model - and I agree mostly with the pro-list. Overall we're very happy but when we take the in laws our (4-6 additional adults) we usually need one in the cabin to have any chance of getting on the plane (350 Merc). We got lucky on price and bought at an auction for a silly low...
Was there any form of alarm? I posted yesterday on another thread about a solid alarm sound that we have had 3-4 times, but almost always after we have been idling or trickling around (courtesy of the speed laws in Western Australia) - now I'm wondering if we could have a similar problem, our...
We've been having a continuous alarm sounding when (it seems) we've been travelling at low rpm/speed for extended periods. THe alarm is a solid alarm and only switches off if we turn off the batteries and the restart (this can be immediate). No signs of any issues on the Smartcraft gauges, and...
We have a new (2011 260) - I would not want to put 2 adults and 2 teenagers (let alone adults) on it, so the answer is obvious. I'd go for one with every trick you can imagine already installed. Having bought a boat with 0 hours on the engines, I'd be more confident going for a low hours used...
Ha ha that is so true - we've had a 260 for 8 months and it's shrunk by at least 30% since we bought it. We find ourselves looking at 35' and saying "that should be big enough".
My only tip would be to try and get every conceivable option you might want at purchase (e.g. generators, sounders...
We've had some pretty extreme heat the last couple of weeks in Western Australia, as a result the glue on the foam padding around the central opening screen on our windshield has melted and the foam peeled away from the window frame - so first question is anyone recommend what I can stick it...
So just to close this out, went out with a local boating instructor, the boat does list slightly to starboard when up on the plane - which was a comfort as it gives me one up on the wife (who claims it doesn't). But the tinest adjustment on the right lower trim tab switch clears it up...
Aaargh it all just got really confusing.... Guess I will just have to get out on the water and play!!
 (Like I need another excuse)
Thanks Dave. Love the stuff on here by the way.
Will be good to hear how you go with the swim platform, we are trying to do the same (but in Perth, Western Australia), ideally would like to extend it by 6" or more, and mount the tender on the back using Weaver Davits, am a bit concerned about two things: (a) ruining the look of the boat, and...
