    1960 SeaRay project undertaking

'Tis a 700 series. Got into removing the windshield (severely split, and of no use) and began removing the fuel tank and gauge cluster. I was dismayed, as the gauges are a series of 'Aqua Maid' instruments from the same time period which are daisy-chained together. The original owners stuffed...

Well, the current state of this one may fail to excite, but I'm certain the mahogany jobbie wouldn't disappoint! Wait til the onslaught of leaf-lookers subsides in a couple of weeks, then name your favorite flavor and drop by for a couple of hours. Let's see what light this sheds on the...

    1960 SeaRay project undertaking

Updated the photo gallery moments ago with two new pics. First is a close-up of the instrument cluster; this is what piqued my interest in taking the hull as a project. Can anyone identify the model ie., 500/700/800 based on this? Sadly, the HID tag has been removed from the port gunnel. All...

Ha! Yes, indeed. The stringers are shot; I'll install exterior-grade replacements, and CPES them after bonding to the hull bottom. Otherwise, the hull and transom are in remarkably sound condition for their age. I found it curious though, the drain has a 'surround' which essentially prevents...

    1960 SeaRay project undertaking

Just uploaded pics to the album '1961 Sea Ray'. If they aren't visible, let me know and I'll take another shot! I want to emphasize I was incorrect in using '1960' in the original header, also. For that matter, it may not even be a 1961, but a year or two later. I tried to upload two more pics -...

Jim, sent you a PM. I brought the SR home yesterday, which incidentally is a 1961, I believe! I inadvertently entered '1960' in the subject line.

Yes! John is still there but has a younger employee named Chris who does very exceptional work, too. When I trailered the Yellowjacket in, they both looked it over silently for several minutes and then John smiled and said, "We'll do it". He does what he enjoys, and from my experience has earned...

    1960 SeaRay project undertaking

Thanks, Jim and Jason! I don't believe it's the 500 on SR's FB...I don't FB and may be the last holdout on the planet LOL! When I get it home and clean out the interior for assessment, perhaps the model will be more clearly identifiable. My guess is it's a 500, but that was a shot in the dark...

    1960 SeaRay project undertaking

Hello, By way of introduction, let me first confess I'm a potential candidate for the "Hole in the Water Club". I am owned by several boats, a mid-80's open bow Invader and most notably a 1958 Yellowjacket Catalina which I restored over a five-year period and completed recently. It's viewable at...
