Looking for some help. I believe the leak is from a failed gasket at the turbo. Is this repair a simple detach and reset with a new gasket? Are there areas to be concerned about? I have not been able to observe the actual coolant leak, just the visible signs as indicated in the photos. Is...
We are currently on a trip from Anacortes North in to Desolation Sound and beyond.
A few pics:
Turn Point Lighthouse (last time we saw the USA):
Exiting (east bound, going into the Marine Park) Malibu Rapids. Current flow was a tad over 5 knots:

The Admiral and I are taking a long weekend and heading to Canada.
My wife and her dog Braux at SMF on our way to SEA:
Got fuel in Anacortes for $2.41 per gallon, including tax. Getting easier to cruise further!
Here is a shot of the plotter just before crossing into Canadian waters...
So, I bought new elements (from Fisheries Supply) for my two main engines. Does any one know if the new elements need any treatment prior to install? Or do they need any of the K&N treatment? Appreciate any feed back.
So, the weather forecast was for the low 70's. Heading out in rough conditions (I had to open the glass on the bridge):
Got a decent spot at James Island:
Nice view:
Time for a beverage:
I thought I would post a few photos from our trip last week. This was our first full week of cruising in this area. Our boat has now gone from Mexican waters all the way into Canadian waters during our 11 years of ownership.
The San Juan's are easily the best cruising location we have been by...
I finally have "matured" and feel I want (read need) a bow thruster. Here are a few pictures of the bow thruster installation on my 400DB:
The yard doing the work let me run the cables/wires prior to the haul out.
Tipped the scales again at 33,250#'s
Ouch, this is painful for me. :wow...
Anyone have a good recommendation for a replacement. Boat is a 2003 400DB. This thing had to crap out just before a big trip.
Thanks in advance

Ok. My trip is now officially planned. Leaving during a weather window in late September or October. I have my fuel stops planned, route is pretty simple (land on right :grin:; stay 10 miles or so off coast) spares in hand (or in transit via Fedex). Preventive maintenance is about...
Went out and saw the first round of this event today. I took some photos with my iphone (sorry for the quality).
Couple of notes:
42.8 knots (as reported) in 12-15 knots of wind.
Just under 43 minutes for the 16 mile course.
Trial took place during a 1.3 knot flood.
I believe it's ok to...
Well, 90 degrees today and most of the other maintenance is complete for the year so I installed my new canvas. Wow, what a difference. My wife has wanted black since the boat was new, but the canvas just wouldn't wear out. Finally last fall it did. I spent the winter researching options, and...
Here are my symptoms:
Boat started and ran great this morning. Made a 45 minute run, docked and went into have lunch/hang out. After a few hours went to leave and the port engine would start only using the emergency start switch. As soon as I released the emergency start switch, engine...
So a pretty nice weekend in No. Cal. I was in Pebble Beach on Friday, light jacket, great weather. This is a photo taken at a project we are working on:
Went to Maverick's this morning. Here is a link to a live video feed:

We spent the weekend on the boat (myself, the wife and our dog). Had a great time. The bay festivities included a parade of 500 + boats along the SF waterfront. I got a few pics :

We docked at pier 1 1/2 and walked along the...
