Solenoid is not bad!?! I'm out of ideas other than a new controller ($900) so... I'm setting up an appointment with Marine Maintenance in Panama City Beach, Service Manager Jody seems pretty knowledgeable on Kohler issues. Anyone have experience with these folks?
I've had this issue twice, on both occasions I isolated it to a single cylinder miss. Once due to a spark plug (cracked insulator) and the other time a bad fuel injector. Surprisingly hard to detect when they're only down a cylinder, at least for me, with the water muffled exhaust. First clue...
I've had this problem occasionally, usually solved by a few sharp taps with the knuckles. On a couple occasions I've had to pull the guage cluster and turn the cylinder selection switch on the back of the tach back & forth through it's range a couple times then reset it on 8. So far this has...
Shelf brackets, great idea. I've been contemplating the same mod for my '99 310 but hadn't considered using shelf brackets, lot easier than fabbing up a bracket. What type shelf bracket from Lowe's did you use? The standard grey/white shelf bracket or one of the heavier duty options? Is it...
thanks, I'll admit to being in some denial about the new solenoid being bad. Glad to hear you got your problem solved and your gen running good...there is hope
I think you're describing the transmission temperature switch. I found a replacement at my local marine parts store but it wasn't cheap, you can probably find it cheaper online with some research. It's Quicksilver part#87-88031. Pretty standard temp switch so likely there are alternatives.
Thought about the Great Lakes? In particular check out the west coast of Michigan, several inland lakes that have access to Lake Michigan. Charlevoix is one of my favorites.
My mechanic suggested shaft zincs and I added them about 4 years ago. Cheap insurance in my opinion, even with a good bonding system. I use U.S. made Camp zincs and have been getting around a year to year and a half out of them.
My 2008 5ECD won't crank when I place the master switch (on the ADC2100) to run and I'm out of troubleshooting ideas. The battery is supplying good voltage to the starter solenoid and the generator cranks fine when the solenoid is jumped. The ADC2100 seems to be functioning properly, it sends...
Wow, I can see I'm not the only one with growing animosity towards my 5ECD. I put a 2008 5ECD in place of the tired Westerbeke in my 310 and have regretted it since. I'm on my third ADC2100! This $800+ POS is way too fragile for a marine environment in my opinion, and Kohler won't stand behind a...
