Solenoid is not bad!?! I'm out of ideas other than a new controller ($900) so... I'm setting up an appointment with Marine Maintenance in Panama City Beach, Service Manager Jody seems pretty knowledgeable on Kohler issues. Anyone have experience with these folks?

I've had this issue twice, on both occasions I isolated it to a single cylinder miss. Once due to a spark plug (cracked insulator) and the other time a bad fuel injector. Surprisingly hard to detect when they're only down a cylinder, at least for me, with the water muffled exhaust. First clue...

I think you're describing the transmission temperature switch. I found a replacement at my local marine parts store but it wasn't cheap, you can probably find it cheaper online with some research. It's Quicksilver part#87-88031. Pretty standard temp switch so likely there are alternatives.

Thought about the Great Lakes? In particular check out the west coast of Michigan, several inland lakes that have access to Lake Michigan. Charlevoix is one of my favorites.

My mechanic suggested shaft zincs and I added them about 4 years ago. Cheap insurance in my opinion, even with a good bonding system. I use U.S. made Camp zincs and have been getting around a year to year and a half out of them.
