220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

My 2005 stickers have some scratches through them, so I've been watching eBay for some replacements - no luck so far. It's not bothered us enough to look into ordering them, which I assume would be rather expensive. Mike

    Winter/water proof cover for 16 240 sundeck

If you’re talking about a mooring cover, I have a Westland Marine exact fit on my 220 Sundeck. I think the Westland brand actually comes from Great Lakes Boat Top, which is the OEM for Sea Ray covers.

220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

Any of you still running your 220SD? We haven't had ours out as much as we'd like, but still loving it. This summer, we added a Simrad GO7 XSE gps and also a dual battery setup with a Blue Sea Systems Add-A-Battery kit. Unfortunately, we lost the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve over the 4th of...

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

I was able to measure my tongue weight today. It was about 310-315 lbs., which is right at 5% of gross for my 6,000 lb. boat. The fuel tank is about 3/4 full, but the it's right over the axles, so it shouldn't change the tongue weight appreciably whether empty or full. Mike

220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

I very much appreciate your opinion. I, too, do not want to turn this thread into a truck thread, but I feel there have been some good comments that relate to pulling the 220 Sundeck. We had ours out on the lake again yesterday and we still love it!! For those interested, I was able to...

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's good to hear about the equal-i-zer from an actual user. Mike

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

qflyer, I was thinking about replacing the hitch, but I'm hearing Dennis and Woody's take on the situation from multiple sources, and it really makes sense. Which means I'm not sure replacing the receiver would buy me anything more than a sticker that has better looking numbers on it. The...

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

The Equal-I-Zer seems to be the one everyone recommends with surge brakes - http://www.equalizerhitch.com/ It's sounding like I may need to seriously consider that option. Thanks, Mike

What type of hitch setup do you use - weight carrying or weight distributing? With surge brakes? Thanks, Mike

220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

It's on page 4 of the F-150 Trailering Guide, bottom of the page - http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/15RV&TT_Ford_F150_r1_Jan12.pdf and page 28 of the RV and Trailering Towing Guide, table at the bottom of the page -...

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

Did you have any issues with the surge brakes using the equalizer-hitch? My trailer is an aluminum Road King. I contacted them and they said I can use a WD hitch with my trailer, but the surge brakes won't work as good. Road King is not long on explanations, so I don't know how much it will...

220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

I could not find a definition for the Class IV spec that includes weight carrying numbers. Do you have a reference for that? I'm assuming that is WD, not WC, right? I talked with a Ford salesman that seemed pretty knowledgeable about trailering, and his comments were along the same lines...

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

The towing capacity of the new F150 is actually up to 12,200 lbs, depending on cab configuration and equipment. The one I'm considering, the Super Crew Cab with short bed, Max Trailer Tow Package, Class IV hitch, and 3.5 Ecoboost engine lists 11,500 lbs. as max trailer weight. But that's with...

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

Yes, but thanks for the response. Does the sticker on your 1500 Silverado hitch receiver actually say 10,000 lbs. weight carrying capacity, not weight distributing? Mike

Tow Vehicle for a 220 Sundeck

I posted this question in the 220 Sundeck thread, but am hoping for a broader range of opinions on towing limitations. I'm considering buying an F-150 as a tow vehicle for my 6,000 lb. (all up weight with trailer) 220 Sundeck. Some 2015 F-150s list an optional Class...

220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

Re: 220 Sundeck Thread - What Is Your Tow Vehicle? Thanks for the detailed response. I have not weighed my boat or tongue, which I agree I should do to be sure of what I am dealing with. However, it handles fine with my '01 1500 Suburban, and I expect an F-150 would handle fine as well...

Re: 220 Sundeck Thread - What Is Your Tow Vehicle? I'm looking for a new tow rig for my 220 Sundeck. I'm considering the Ford F-150. What do you use to tow yours? My 2005 220, loaded with fuel, water, gear and trailer calculates to about 6,000 lbs., which exceeds the weight carrying capacity...
