Planning Phase for the Delivery Run of the New Alaskan Sea-Duction

I agree, get an epirb. When I was compiling my ditch bag I was a bit reluctant to spend the money - about $500 at the time - on an epirb. Then I decided to look at it this way: when it's dark and stormy and your boat is on fire with your wife and daughter on board, I bet you'd bust out your...

1985 30' Sea Ray 300DB Sedan Bridge Project

Hi Capt B. I had my boat out today and at 3200 rpm I was doing 23 knots - pretty much exactly what you were thinking. Good luck on your trip - just make sure there is plenty of room on your credit card for the gas!!

Hidden and Secret Places on Your Sea Ray

Maybe not too secret but there are 2 small storage areas that took me a while to find on my 300DB. If you're sitting at the lower helm, the floor under your feet is removable and there is storage under there. In the stateroom, the small step that you might use to crawl onto the bed has a...

    87 300 Sedan Bridge Project

Hi OP. I would recaulk evrything just like Akbassking mentioned. You'll need to remove the carpeting/hullliner in order to get at the nav lights etc. One other thing that I had done - after my new hullliner was ruined and had to be re-replaced because of rainwater leaking/ migrating through from...

1985 30' Sea Ray 300DB Sedan Bridge Project

My genny ( Kohler) is under the rear dinette seat as well. There should be a compartment cover under the seat. The genny sits fore/aft and most of it is actually under the dinette floor. It is a ***** to get at. I removed it a few years back for some repair work and it was not enjoyable. I'm...

1985 30' Sea Ray 300DB Sedan Bridge Project

Welcome Capt B. Glad to hear you're a DIY kind of guy cause you'll definitely be busy. I've done/had done a lot of work on my boat as well - do a search to check out the interior. If you're going to get a new genset make sure to get a sound shield and treat the compartment with sound absorbsion...

MK Hammer Speed and Marine: Out of Business?

 Does anyone have any experience dealing with this shop? I ordered a couple of parts from their website in early August and, although my credit card has been charged, I haven't recieved the parts and no one from the shop has returned my many phone calls or emails. Maybe they've gone out of...

    Blower in Genny Compartment

Hi Tom. On my boat I don't have a blower in the genny compartment. The opening where your genny blower was installed is open on my boat and I guess when I turn on the blowers in the engine bay, they would draw air out of the genny bay as well. Conversely, that opening would allow air into the...

    Moorings charter - Tortola

A group of 8 of us - 4 couples - chartered a 47' Power Cat from the Moorings this past Nov. and it was AWESOME!! The Moorings was great, the boat was INCREDIBLE and the Islands were fantastic! Any and all places we went were really a lot of fun. Anagada was a particular highlight - we caught 5...

    300DB Bottom Work (pics)

Hi Pack. Just wondering if you have the prop specs yet. I'm taking my boat out of the water this weekend for some engine/prop/shaft/ work and could use the info. Thanks very much, rstaub

Proper Operation of Boat in close Quarters

I would definitely recommend hiring a Captain for a few hours. I did when I first bought my boat and it helped immensely. Pay really close attention to the wind and current. Unfortunately, with our model of boat and a bit of wind, docking can be quite the adventure - get a really good boat hook!

    Macerator key

My boat - 87' 300DB - has a key in the head that operates the macerator pump in order to pump out the holding tank overboard. I'd like to replace it with a toggle switch. Has anyone does this? I find it odd they would use a key - anyone know why this is? Thanks, Randy

    EPIRBS on sport yachts

One of the first items I bought when I got my boat was an EPIRB. I was humming and hawing on the price ($450 CDN) and then I figured if I didn't buy one and the boat was sinking and my wife and daughter had to get in the cold ocean... I'd bust out my credit card pretty fricken quick to buy one...

Tower Install on 86 300 DB

Very nice! I was seriously thinking about getting a tower as well. Is it custom made to fit or is it "off the rack"? Randy

Marine Satellite TV for $250 and no monthly fee

I suppose, but FOUR TV's?! Each to his own I guess but I thought being out on the boat exploring and enjoying nature was the point. Put down the remote and move away from the Boob Tube!

    87' 300DB New interior & floor & cockpit PHOTOS

All of the upholestry work was done by Oceansair Interiors. They're located at Canoe Cove Marina on Vancouver Island. The flooring (inside and out) and assorted carpentry work was done by NuTeak Northwest. They do business here in Vancouver as well as Seattle.

    87' 300DB New interior & floor & cockpit PHOTOS

No, I had the people from Nu-Teak install it. They had to do quite a bit of carpentry in order to get the proper fit - way above my ability. (I don't think the admiral would have let me do it anyway.) They also did a lot of trim and veneer work also so it wasn't cheap. The ENTIRE interior was...

    87' 300DB New interior & floor & cockpit PHOTOS

I had a new one made. It's in 3 pieces - same sizes and shapes as the old ones. It's a bit too firm so I may get some memory foam cut to fit.
