Not to be a smart a--, but you're trying to run the boat at a speed that it doesn't like. I'll bet the nose is high and the wake is huge. Simple solution, slow down or speed up. At that speed the motors are overfueling because turbos are not putting out enough boost. All planning hulls have this...
You REALLY don't want teak. AFTER the dog scratches (and he will) the finish and you have to strip everything off and sand and start over you will wonder why in the world you did this.
1. Real teak is expensive
2. It is heavy
3. It is Hot to walk on in the sun
If however you have plenty of $$$...
You really don't want teak. After owning an Egg Harbor that had more teak than a forest, I can speak with some knowledge. We also had Labs. It is beautiful when stained, sealed, or varnished but it is one hell of a lot of work to keep up. Boating is to be a pleasure activity. Keeping teak up is...
You guys with Cummins Power should visit and join BoatDiesel.com. This will be the best $25 you ever spent on you boat. From the conversation and questions, I'm guessing that the majority of you are over propped. Please do yourself a favor and do this. The results of too much pitch can be more...
I don't think those specs are for your boat. I had a 400EC with 315hp Cummins engines. 1.53 IRM 220 gears. I turned 20x24 cupped 3 blade props at 2950 rpms with full fuel and water. I would guess that if you have similar gear ratios, you would need slightly less pitch. 18X19 sounds like a gas...
Not to be a smart a-- but if this boat sat in Fla waters from March to August it has a very dirty bottom and running gear. That does reduce both boat speed and eng rpm.
Thanks for the tip. it was a fuse (5 amp) located under the dash as you suggested. When I looked at the labeling, it said "stereo memory" didn't check it originally. Yesterday put the meter on it and viola fuse blown. Thanks.
My 1995 EC400 factory Clarion Stereo died. Model is M1000R. Is there a plug and play model that will work? I don't have any extra amp that I know of and I realize that the factory hard wired remote may not work. Thanks.
JBJ, I hope you are replacing everything outboard of both engines except fuel tanks. It sure much easier to replace water heater, holding tank etc. now while acess is good.
Frank, In addition, on the B's at least, after the engine rpms are above approx. 1200, the intake heaters will shut off regardless of engine temps. We disconnect them. The current load with both elements working is over 100 amps. The alternators don't like this very much.
Until the used boat values start to increase, this just does not make economic sense. There are too many used boats (Sea Rays) on the market. Emotionally it is a different story. If the work is done at substantially less than corporate rates, it MIGHT be a way to keep a labor force intact if you...
I own the same year and model. I believe that you are correct. I contemplated putting a dinghy lift on my boat. After much investigation I came to the conclusion that the generator and water tank must be removed in order to get access to the attaching fasteners. There just is no room back there...
I'm just 50 miles north of you on the North East River. I keep my boat in the water 12 months under a covered shed. I would not dream of not winterizing the most expensive parts of my boat and depending on electricity to prevent freezing. Been doing this for 30+ years. Proceed at your own risk...
