Max RPM issue and RPM oscillating.

UPDATE: took the boat out this weekend and babied it, on my return trip from Lake Tashmoo, Martha's Vineyard I was doing about 3600 RPM and on the same motor I heard a loud pop followed by what sounds similar to an 18 wheeler with its jake brake on. Shut it down and hobbled back on the other...

Max RPM issue and RPM oscillating.

I will buy the tune up kit today and do it Friday for sure, as for checking fuel pressure , where can I get a good fuel pressure gauge and is there any special fittings I need to attach to the fuel rail? The pressure should sit at 30 psi regardless of rpm correct?

Max RPM issue and RPM oscillating.

Ok I've read as much as I can find all over the web and I'm looking for someone who as actually solved this issue successfully. Port motor will not get over 3600 rpm under load and oscillates up and down +/- 200 rpm. Every time i check the plugs they show that I'm running really rich, I'll...

    Fuel Sender Float...doesn't float...

My boat is a few years older than both of yours, either of you know who would have manufactured them? There's no name on the sender just some numbers: 341-70 H97. I'd love to get a new float and call it a day. Worst case I sent an email out to Wema, I'll try Royce too. Are they expensive?

    Fuel Sender Float...doesn't float...

Starboard fuel gauge stopped working, went through the troubleshooting starting at the gauge and worked my way back. Gauge is good, wiring good. Pulled the fuel sender, when I move the arm the ohmic value changes like its supposed to 30 - 280 ohms. Putting the sender back in...noticed that the...

WARNING: Brand new OEM Merc manifold casting cracks

Update: Brought the manifold back on Friday and had three mechanics look at it to "make sure it wasn't my fault" ... They had never seen that happen before and ordered me a new replacement manifold, all new gaskets and all new studs no charge. Brought it home and tapped the manifold and was...

    Stupid thermostat question...

This might sound dumb, haven't done a thermostat yet though, with this closed cooling system do I have to drain the heat exchanger and block of all coolant to change it? It's 350 MPI 98'. Slowly pulled a hose and it seems like there's a whole lot of coolant to flow out...if so, I'm having a hard...

WARNING: Brand new OEM Merc manifold casting cracks

Called my local Sea Ray dealer / OEM supplier and told him, he didn't even seem surprised which was my first red flag. He wants me to bring it in today so he can look at it, they better give me a new one for free. I tried emery cloth to get the paint off and that took forever, ended up buying a...

WARNING: Brand new OEM Merc manifold casting cracks

I'm glad I saw this thread, I just tried to do this job last night put it all together and went to torque the nuts on the studs and popped the casting on one of the four corners on the first side I tried. I'm telling you I had those studs as far in as I could and they fought the whole way with...

    Is my heat exchanger junk?

Just finished pulling off my manifolds, riser and elbows on my port motor. When I was pulling the hose off the bottom of the manifold, it felt crunchy and when I pulled it off it looks like flakes of copper coming out. What does this mean? 1998 350 MPI closed cooling / vdrives

First time Winterizing Tonight ( Late I know ) - HELP

One more thing, should I leave those water lift mufflers filled with that antifreeze or drain them down again now that I've run it through the whole raw water side? They have to hold a gallon or two of antifreeze in there.

First time Winterizing Tonight ( Late I know ) - HELP

The hot water heater can just be drained right? That's all I did, opened the valve and pressure relief and just let it drain down. The I bypassed the heater to do the rest of the water system and hoses with pink. as for the a/c I pumped pink in backwards until it came out of the sea strainer...

Anyone know how to get to the A/C compressor under the stairs, at least I think that's where it is? Also, I just winterized and want to make sure you guys do something similar to make sure I'm doing it right. Open all three petcocks on each engine and drain the raw water side. Plug it up again...

First time Winterizing Tonight ( Late I know ) - HELP

Ok, so unfortunately my boat just came out of the water yesterday, pretty sad I got a Christmas tree before the boat came out. I lost a V-Drive and the Marina had it for a LONGGG time. But, I'm hoping all you seasoned pro's out there can help me out and tell me if I did it right. So here goes...

    Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

I do remember Sea Ray saying something about an extension on later models. Unfortunately adding the 3" risers on the '98 wasn't an option because of how close the risers are to the deck hatch. Also, I remember a post about an ice maker, search this forum for "U-Line" I wanna say that was the...

    Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

It comes as a kit for each motor and the kit was roughly $1600/motor. It came with all of the hose necessary, all of the pre-formed fiberglass elbows (some real big pieces) and the water lift muffler itself. It's definitely not cheap if you aren't already having a problem. They may have made...

One more thing I thought about today, I know in the past posts people have talked about the water ingestion issues with the 5.7 MPI's w/ V-Drives. I had this problem at the end of last season. Ended up doing the heads on my STBD motor with only 30 hours on it. I was not happy, but I could've...

    Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Guys, hope summer boating is going well for everyone. Couple quick questions. My 1998 Norcold fridge hasn't worked on DC power since I bought the boat, it only worked on AC power which now seems to only work when it feels like it. Anyone run into this before? Are there direct replacements? Same...
