electricaldoctor,Thermostat is a good idea. I replaced it ... no difference. But that is a good idea ... maybe I'll remove it entirely, just to see what happens. Is it possible that the circulating pump is failing somehow?
1986 390 EC with gassers. So, my starboard 454 overheats. Funny thing is there is tons of water going out the exhaust port. I disconnected the hose after the water pump (in front of the oil cooler); there were some chunks of previous pump vanes; cleared them but no difference. Check both risers...
Thanks everybody for your advice. I still can't make up my mind. One thing for sure: I will NOT put a tank in the floor and then seal it all up again. I want the tank to be forever accessible, so I'll make some floor locker hatches (my floor will be wood not carpet). Lately, I've been...
Thanks everyone for the advice; I think you're right. I'll replace the aluminum tank with a plastic one. For me, I think I'll go smaller, like a 60 gallon tank. That way, I'll be able to keep my access hole accessible. I found a 55 gallon tank...
Started the process of removing foam under the water tank (and under the generator). My tank does not seem to leak and the foam isn't too wet. However, does anyone know of a sealer which could be poured into the tank, churned around, to add another layer of protection? I've seen such sealing...
I bought a bunch of 1" x 2" pine boards from Home Depot; glued and compressed, and then planed them down. Couple of coats of polyurethane and they look and perform great. Every couple of years, I plane and re-polyurethane them. Worked great for 10 years.
Old thread but it seems like the right place. I have an 86 390. And I'm tearing up the carpeting; it's old and looks crappy. I want to replace it with 3/4" x 2 1/2" tongue and groove oak flooring. However, I'm worried about people slipping on an oak floor. I have the stuff at home and my wife...
Dr MicroChip. First, love the work and the sharing. I am taking notes and reviewing as much as possible. But now I'm greedy. Most of your links do not work. What is your "restoration" thread link? I've found a couple of threads; I've seen your gallery but it seems there is more out there. Please...
On my 86 390, the key has a number stamped on it. I went to my local Sea Ray Dealer, Parts dept. He brought out a box of keys and we found several keys with the same number. That was it; same number, same key. I bought 5.
I use buckets of DampRid, and put the buckets in the sinks ... that way the water can drain out of the boat and the DampRid can continue to do its job.
Love your access points (I only have one in front of the tank and not as nice as yours. I removed and resealed all my windows and that helped stop most of my rain water issues. Also water dripping in from the cockpit.
A question for you (and others): Are you not afraid of removing all the foam...
