We bought our 1988 39EC 2 years ago. It'sthe best boat we've ever
owned. We've had a 36 Carver amd a 34 Silverton both Fly bridge Conv. we most enjoy the space, weight, and beam of the 39. Good luck in your search
A friend of ours has a 1991 42 EC. It seems that in the early 90s Sea Ray cut some models back to a 12' beam ( I dont know why Maybe cost) his is a 12' beam you ca nreally tell the difference just steping onto it, it rocks. ours does not. It didn't work, and se Ray went back to the broder beam...
For the future, Never get your gas at Rolphs, even Chestertown is cheaper then he is. We actually find it saves us money, to come down to Piney Narrow for gas. Even though it about an hour trip for us. If you come up for the Down rigging let me know. :smt024
I'm from Kennersley's Point Marina on the Chester River. We're a very small marina 50 slips. Of those slips, we have 10 sea rays. Stay in touch and maybe we plan something for next season. Also the weekend of Nov 3rd they have the Down Rigging Festival in Chestertown Harbour. It includes 10...
Our 88 39EC has never had any blister problems. We bought the boat from the original Owner in 2004. Our WOT at 4400 RPM is 28K. we cruise at 2900-3200RPM doing 13.5- 17K. Again we have 21/19 props which really do make a difference in handling and proformance. When we trade up to our retirement...
3-4 blade propes
For now yes. I really dont see the need to change at this time. wiht the proformance I'm getting, and giving the cost of new 4 blade wheels. Maybe the next boat.
39EC
JC3
the 39 EC is our first Sea Ray. and our first express We've had Carver's and Silverton's all Fly bridge boats.
It's the best boat we've owned to date. We plan on staying with Sea Ray's
Our retirment boat will be a 44 with disels. There are several good points about the 39EC...
I've found a site called www.swimplatforms.com They carry a whole line of swim platforms, for almost any boat built. I looked at the one for my 39 EC
It's a do it yourself project, and the supports line up with the orignal bolt holes. It's wider and longer. The best part is, it's 4" higher...
Props (Wheels)
Update on my props
Last march when I first placed this question, I had not taken my props to Black Dog Prop Doctor on Kent Island. I fouund out two very important things. Pitch will play havoc with your boat's proformance. Also the wheel size makes a big difference. My boat...
39 EC
You may want to consider bigger wheels or go to 4 blade instead of the standered 3 blade props. My 39 came with 21/19. standered were I think 17s.
the bigger whells also gives me better response to helm which is great when docking. At 2900 RPM I'm burning approx 17GPH doing 13.5 to 15.5...
Same Problem on my 39
I've got the same problem on my 39EC. It only started this season. I've also done all the things yu've done. Still haven't found the source of the leak. I'm goingto take out the panels in the head this comeing weekend and try to find it. I've also sealed all my deck...
Can anyone help me with regards, to finding a owners manual for a Maxwell Nelsson Windlass V1000 Lb 5/16 chain. It's on my 1988 39' EC
If you have one, you can fax me a copy at 302-653-2860.
Thank you

454s
I have a 39 express with 454s. I bring it up on plane at 3200 RPM, then back off to 2900 RPM approx 15 Knots. This keeps me out of the quad.
I burn 25 GPH at that speed. If I open it up it's goes to 40-50 GPH real fast.

Has anyone changed over, from 3 to 4 blade props? I have a 39 express.
It's my understanding that it'll help proformance, and reduce gas consumpion. Can anyone comment?
thanks
Paul
I'm going to change my stuffing box flex this season. I'd like to use Gore-tex. I have 1 1/2 " shafts tied to 7.4 454 340hp. which flex size do I need?
