Hi all - working through some small post purchase items on our new to us '09 55 DA.
The cockpit ice maker wants to make ice but is not getting water. Pulled the unit and on the back the 3/16" plastic supply line ties into the usual blue water line with a reducer fitting with a valve on it. (The...
Two first-hand stories of Seafoam.
First: was about a decade ago - riding HD motorcycles 1,300 miles to the Sturgis Rally. My wife at the time had a small 883 Sportster and had to run it almost wide open to keep up on the open highways and the oil temp was right near the upper limit. Also the...
Did you splash the boat - or bounce it off the ice? We're considered early launchers around here - and that won't happen for another five weeks. :smt089
As far as batteries...my boat is stored in a giant storage barn without available electric - so charging over winter is not possible unless...
I'm guessing that they did that to match up with the 110v DVD players so that there wouldn't be confusion about why one works when the other doesn't.
Funny you bring this up because I was just contemplating how to get at least one of the TV's to work on 12v - for watching while on the hook...
Neither have I. It would be nice to get this done with the boat out of the water. I suppose checking in with Sea Ray would be the logical next step.
I'm with you Cuttin' Edge...a great boat and its time for winter to be over.
Welcome to the club. I was wondering what the current value was of our 420's these days. FWIW, we paid $380k for an identically equipped (except SeaRay Nav instead of c120) and same amount of hours DA - 18 months ago so I don't think you're that far off.
I have to say this purchase has been a...
You know - I never have thought about it - but we cook breakfast all the time and never really think about the eggs running down hill. So our stove must be pretty level.
I will say that the v-berth up front slopes down to the aft enough that it annoys me. I feel like I'm sliding out of bed...
We're definitely planning on a larger trip this summer but I can never commit until usually a few weeks beforehand. We're debating between heading east to the Erie Canal - or north to Huron and much the same route as mentioned.
FWIW, about 4 or 5 boats from my Marina make a run to Georgian Bay...
This is my third year docking at the Skipper Buds on Marblehead (Lake Erie) and to my knowledge they have not organized any trips...at least out of our marina. Maybe the do something for the Four Winns, or Silverton, or Azimut folks directly - but nothing for the general populace....
Well it took a few pages but finally somebody made the observation...TT you beat me to the punch.
Oh yeah...buy the damned diesels. I had gassers in the 340 and now have the Cummins' in my 420 and what an incredible difference.
I'm looking at a Brig E340 RIB as a tender and general fun runabout around the marina & harbor. It appears to be a well built and quality item. However, the only reason I am looking at Brig is the dealer is very close to my Marina.
Does anybody have any good or bad to say about Brig in general?
$15k out the door for a new Brig w/ 30 HP Mercury. The Avon is very expensive at $22k...no way I'm going there. I didn't like the layout of the Zodiac so I haven't looked into those.
Its a heckuva a lot of money considering what other types of "real" boats you could buy for the same amount of...
OK - much research done today.
I had a good discussion with a Brig dealer today. It very appears very clearly that the manufacturer's have started to tailor their offerings to our boats as lifts become more prevalent.
I say this because our beam on the 420DA (now called the '44') is exactly...
My advice: Enjoy the heck out of it. I too moved from a 340 to a 2005 - 420DA and what a difference it is. We spend almost every weekend in the summer on it in Lake Erie and it has been an absolute joy to own and operate. You will love the diesels.
One really dumb thing that I found is the...
Well - that's what I'm not sure about. Its up on freezing blocks in a barn about 45 minutes away. The beam is 14' as listed in the specs...but I'm sure it tapers down at the stern...then the sealift is a few inches less than that. I believe the rule of thumb is to have a tender at least 1'...
