I JUST saw those in one of our local chandlery catalogues. I'll try to find them for you when I am free.

Who to buy a boat from

We've purchased both privately and through brokers. Without a doubt, the most hassle and worry free purchases were the ones through the brokers. This has included everything from viewing through the survey to cutting the cheque and crossing the borders. Good luck. Just be sure to familiarize...

Hmmmm... Should I sell it and start over or keep it??

If you're happy with it then keep it. Only YOU can make that decision for sure. Who knows, after using it for a season you'll probably want a 33 or 34 footer. We're never happy, for long, with what we have, especially when we can afford something bigger.

Joke Thread.. post 'em if you got 'em

A funeral procession pulled into a cemetery. Several carloads of family members followed a black truck towing a boat with a coffin in it. A passer-by remarked, "That guy must have been a very avid fisherman." "Oh, he still is," remarked one of the mourners. As a matter of fact...

    Replacing ice box with refrigerator

Any RV parts suppliers should have a catalogue with replacement fridges for their campers and motor homes. The catalogues have all the measurements of each unit and you just pick one that will fit in the space. We just did our 240 last year and realized that there aren't a lot of choices...

    Question....would you?

I think you did the right thing too. Even in the perceived safety of the mooring basin, if one of them DID happen to fall in there is the possibility of electrocution too. However, even YOU should know that spinning props can't harm anyone in the water if they're close to a...

    Brisbane to Sydney

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing Ian. Couldn't help but notice; last post, 4th pic down, rods are obviously being used but the boat appears to be going pretty fast. How fast do you guys troll your gear?

    under powered or not

Welcome to CSR. When you ask for opinions ya sure get some variations don't ya? I'm inclined to compare the performance of previous boats with prospective boats based on a weight to horse power ratio for starters. If your previous boat was 5500 lbs, had a 325 hp engine in it, and you were happy...

    Simple broadband radar and display

Thanx Bob. I'll hold off 'till end of season and see what happens in the way of deals. I do like that Garmin set up, should do the job for wherever I'll be going. Cheers.

I'm a newbie - Thank you for the 1981 25' V255 yacht. A great gift but now what?

Welcome to CSR. If you are already familiar with how engines work and you have tools and basic abilities to figure things out, you're 1/2 way there. There are a couple of generic manuals available from publishers such as Haynes and Clymer. A search on Amazon might net some results. These manuals...

Pics of my 1984 Sea Ray Seadancer 270

Wow, is that ever a mint boat. Curious how many hours (or minutes) on the engines.

Mystery part on 1987 Sea Ray 340 Express Cruiser?

Hang in there John, somebody will have seen and used something like that at some point in time. It may take a while to get responses at this time of year as it's splash time for a lot of people. Good luck, and let's see some pics of the rest of your boat.

    Water circulation

I think it's fair to assume it will take roughly twelve hours to R&R a single I/O engine in an older boat. Find out what the shop rate is and you'll have a ball park idea of the cost. However, 888's are from a long time ago and it's my guess that anything from that era will probably not last a...

Mystery part on 1987 Sea Ray 340 Express Cruiser?

It's a teak thingamajig that's crooked, but I'm afraid I'm at a loss as to what purpose it serves. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.:smt021 And WELCOME to CSR. Much good info here. Just not much from me.

    Simple broadband radar and display

Thanks for the replies everyone. OMG, what an intense subject. Research has shown that I need to do way more research. Can't say that a purchase will be happening any time soon. I like to thoroughly understand the stuff I buy so this one's going to take a while. Gone are the days of my...

    Simple broadband radar and display

It appears that all of the new broadband radar products are designed to be used with a multifunction display. Does anyone know of a small, stand alone radar that would give us some confidence in the fog or on moonless nights. In situations such as these I wouldn't be going more than hull speed...
