The official '99-'04 260DA Sundancer thread

According to the PO they were changed in 2009 but I have no record of that. What do you think of my theory that since the water was found in the starboard side cylinders and the fact that the risers were taken apart on the starboard side this past spring maybe they weren't put together properly...

Thanks Todd. It was in the shop and just found out that the good news is they were able to get the engine running so it appears the engine is ok. Just trying to figure out how the water got in. Seems the water was only found in the even cylinders which I believe is on the starboard side. At...

Well things have changed quickly. The Marina that is selling my boat on consignment is also doing the winterization work. Got a call from them today saying that the boat wouldn't start and upon further investigation they found water in two of the cylinders when taking off the spark plugs...

The official '99-'04 260DA Sundancer thread

Hi just thought I would drop a line and let you know I am selling my 260 DA and that I appreciate all the advice on this forum in the last few years. We decided to buy a house on cape cod and will probably end up buying a center console to zip around down there with and do some fishing. I wish...

head room in 260 and 270 Sun Dancers.....

Cliff, I find the 260 a bit tight for two adults if staying over night for any length of time. The biggest issue is the port side of the vberth which is shorter than the starboard side and does not allow you to stretch out on that side. It isn't really big enough for two adults to sleep...

    Another Oil Pressure problem!

Good deal! Glad that worked. Nice when they are simple fixes. I'm going to pick up one of those pressure test kits at HF which by the way has become my favorite hangout these days.

Considering Sea Ray... buying help appreciated!

My understanding is they have a marine division and they do provide engines specifically for the marine industry. Yes mercruiser and others do further marinize them but it is a specific division and product coming out of GM. Check this out...

    Another Oil Pressure problem!

Since they are two separate circuits that could mean that you don't really have an oil pressure problem and is just the sender since you didn't have an alarm.

Yup...If I had the cash that is the one I would go for. I also heard that GM is going to stop manufacturing marine engines...not sure if that is true or not but if it is I can see boat manufacturers looking towards outboards.

Considering Sea Ray... buying help appreciated!

I'd go with the inboards as a general rule but then again you don't know what other issues you may find with another used boat. At least the one you have you know has been meticulously maintained and it seems your boat has been in fresh water all it's life so the first 10 years shouldn't have...

dont mean to be a downer here but check this thread out....http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/61290-New-to-I-O-s...This is why I hate I/Os. You want to buy a nice 260?

Considering Sea Ray... buying help appreciated!

welcome...the decision is all about trade-offs. Bigger you go the more comfortable but the higher the maintenance and operating costs. on the 260 vs 280 I think you have already realized the 260 is too small for 4 and in fact the first year I had mine I was already looking at bigger boats...

    Another Oil Pressure problem!

Update - pulled the connection from the sender....cleaned it and crimped it a bit to make the connection tighter and the problem went away. Will keep an eye on it to see if that did it for sure. I'm feeling pretty confident about it though because we were able to replicate the situation...
