Worth having a bow thruster on 29' twin engine?

Hi, I am debating fitting a bow thruster, but the general wisdom is that a twin engined boat this size doesn't need one, and it should be easy with the twin throttles. I normally dock stern to, and use just the two throttles to steer her astern, but I still often find the wind catching the...

Re: Official 280 Sundancer Thread - Odor of gas under cabin step Yes, just tightened the screw up a little and was good after that. I left masking tape all around the edge of the sender so that if any liquid leaked it would stain and I could see where it was coming from, but I think it was...

Thanks but I want to keep a shower too as we do use it. I am starting to think that regular faucet over the basin and then a seperate mixer control (maybe near the pumpout key) linked to a recessed pull out shower head like this might be a better solution than a faucet that pulls out into a...

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Hi, Has anyone found a better shower solution for the bathroom, I find the shower head is a bit too long the water falls near the front of the sink instead of the back which leads to water getting splashed outside the basin when washing hands etc. I am thinking of either swapping out for a...

Sea Ray 280 Sundancer Twin Engine water heater removal

I mounted my new heater on a piece of marine ply painted grey, that way I could fix the ply to the boat with screws that were accessible. I also wanted to raise the heater up as the bottom has rusted out so I presume that shelf had water sit on it somehow maybe condensation or the previous...

Hi I found the port over the galley has been leaking (water runs down the back of the microwave and out under the fridge onto the carpet), and after a lot of googling the unit appeared to be a Bomar 'Flagship' unit. I called Bomar and they confirmed that Searay did purchase the 561 model...

Hi, Does anyone know what size balls are used in the cabin door runners? I know I will need to take the entire dash out so wanted to get the parts ready (in Australia and shipping can be expensive / slow), also how many are required? I checked the parts manual but it just shows the runner as a...

Hi Ian, There is someone on ebay that makes and sells GRP replacements (the originals are plastic) have one and the colour match and fit is not bad, I also saw on another thread that Searay will make the original to order but think they quoted $600 each. Goodluck!

Mercruise oil drain pipe, supposed to swivel?

Hi, Just using the oil drain pipes connected to the sump for the first time, on one engine the hose fitting in the sump (where dipstick also enters) points upwards so will never drain all the oil out via gravity, but on the other engine the same fitting swivels to it can point downwards so that...

Bravo III drives are known for corrosion issues, if in doubt get it checked by mercruiser tech, in bad cases they can need to be replaced if its just minor then a bit of refinishing may be all that is required

Nmea 2000 power is supposed to have its own separate fused switched supply. Personally I would keep it separate sometimes you want the systems on to chart a course etc withoug having the ignition switches on draining battery, or if there is a problem with the engine electical system you find...
