So, no offense to either North Shore or South Shore, and if owning two boats and the costs associated with them was an option, I don't think I'd be worried about a slip. :-)
As much as I'd like to try out a season on the South Shore, I think I'm going to find a way to stay in Northport. Maybe...
I like the idea of trying out the South Shore to see how we like it. We've enjoyed the North Shore and the convenience, but that may prove to be a good move. Any issues with your draft?

Thanks for all the good responses. I do have a good truck for towing, but get the idea about boat ramps. I don't know that I have an option for a rack or a wet slip nearby. I will look into those options. If I were to move it to the South Shore, there are more options, but time to get to the...
My wife and I are expecting our second child in December and we're debating what to do with the boat. :smt001 We have a 24' SunDancer currently on a slip 2 miles from the house. We're on the North shore of LI and have enjoyed the boat for the past year. The convenience of the slip has made it...
Just downloaded iNavx and setup a few routes for this summer. It was pretty easy except that it kept trying to fix on my location (LIRR train). Looking forward to trying it out on the water. I may also look at a mount and waterproof case.
I'm going in next week, but with the warm weather this week, I wish I was in already. Last year the marina was shoveling snow out of the parking lot.
Thanks for that advice. I went on Defender.com and got a good price on Pettit Ultima SR40. I checked other sites, but they had the best price I could find. Unfortunately, the shows I went to earlier this year didn't have a Pettit booth. Returned my paint to WM and even with shipping, will only...
Thanks for the info. The rep didn't get into that, and I didn't bother asking who makes it for them. He did point out that the % anti-fouling agent is lower (23%) than the more expensive brands. Since I have some bare spots, and need two coats, I thought I'd go with the WM brand. If it doesn't...
Has anyone used the West Marine Ablative paint? I just bought two gallons on the recommendation of the sales rep, and at $100 less and with an upcoming $20 mail-in rebate, I figured I'd give it a try. If it's not going to last though, I'll return it and pay the extra money. It has to take me...
I'm not implying that individuals aren't to blame, but stores have to be accountable for the hype that goes into the Black Friday craze. Let's open a store at 4am and make people wait in line for deals that are limited in quantity. Some of the posts above mention stores that do it right and keep...
Does anyone here think that part of this mayhem is created by the stores themselves? Not to mention that they started putting up XMas decorations in mid-Oct this year.:smt021
Hard to tell from the pic. Can you take one from the street? The in-ground flag poles look great, and that price sounds good. Depending on the size of the flag, you may need to move it further away from the house, but I see your power line comes right over the yard.
The terrain disappeared from the navigation chart, and all references to the water and depth have too. The numbers section worked until last night when it started acting real funny and displaying over 100 feet of water in the bay where it's about 8 feet deep at that time. Garmin customer service...
Thanks. I called Rex and the Boat Yard on the East side of the park. The Boat yard is charging $2 per foot vs. Rex which is charging $20 for up to 2 hrs and $10 per each add'l hr. I'll try the public dock and hope that there's a spot. If not, I'll go to the boat yard. Hope to see some others...
Is anyone planning to attend the oyster fest this weekend? This will be our first time and we are planning to head across the Sound by boat. Does anyone know if there are transient docks available? I checked the website for the fest, but no mention of where to dock.
Thanks. Will definitely put this on my list of trips to do soon. The wind has been strong lately and the debris in the Sound has been bad. Hopefully the debris clears and the winds calm down soon.
