Gaskets for FWC manifolds and riser

I have a 2002 sundancer with twin 4.3 L MPI center rise, with Fresh water cooling. OM345316 Exhaust has 3" risers between the manifolds and elbows. I'm confused about which type of gaskets to use on the risers. I took the old ones off, and it had a restricted gasket at bottom, and Full flow at...

    servicing fuel injectors

My 2002 Sundancer won't go up on plane.. One engine was only getting about 2000 RPM. The mechanic checked it out and came back with code reading that indicates fuel injectors are clogged. The diagnosis made sense because I had two seasons old gas in the tank when I fired it up in the spring...

    New Risers/Elbow weeping ??

Last fall I put in new manifolds/risers. They didn't seem to leak when I put them in, but this spring I see some suspicious looking rust stains around the elbow/riser joints. They are Barr brand and I used the cardboardy Barr gaskets provided. I did not use any Perfect Seal or anything else as...

    Fresh water cooling question

I have a 2002 280 Sundancer with twin engines with alpha drives and fresh water cooling. Each engine has a thru hull with a sea water pump powered by the main engine. There is also the usual impeller-driven water pump in the alpha drive lower units. Do the water pumps in the alpha drives...

    Fuel/water separator filter

I always fill it . The risk is, if you don;t you can potentially burn out your electric fuel pump. Getting at the pump to replace it can cost a fortune in some boats. So, fill the filter, and avoid a $2,000 bill.

Remote oil filter hoses 280 sundancer

My hose has a Banjo Fitting at the bottom of the oil adapter. It's not the same as shown in the pictures below. Anyone familiar with that set up ? I imagine there must be a big bolt that holds the fitting in place ?? It's far underneath so it's hard to get good look it.

Remote oil filter hoses 280 sundancer

Remote oil filter hoses 280 sundancer

Thanks.. Here is my set up..Engine serial no is OM345316. Your bottom hose (hose 9) is a little different than mine. It looks like your nut simply screws off. Mine (hose 5) has the metal tube coming into the side of the hex nut so it doesn't simply screw off. I'm thinking maybe I need to...

    Accessing Gen II Cool fuel

Re: 280 Sundancer 2002 I have a Gen II cool fuel box that has a small fuel leak. I tried to take the cover off the box to see f I can see where it's leaking from. It's really really tight to get into. I can't even take the cover off. The power steering hoses are in the way. Can I even remove...

    Manifolds riser sold as "kits"

Been shopping for Manifolds /risers . I have a V-6 center rise, 4.3 liter mercruiser engine. I'm amazed at the variation in price.. I've found riser/manifold kits sold online. The kits comprise enough parts to do one engine (two manifolds and two risers sold together, with bolts, gaskets)...

    12 yr old risers

Thanks for the reply. Was there anything tricky about removing all the stuff that's attached to the risers ?? (ECM brackets, shift bracket, etc) ? Do you just remove the 4 bracket bolts and lean it all over to the side ?? Thanks

    12 yr old risers

I believe my boat has the original risers and manifolds- it's a 2002 Searay Sundancer. I've kept it in salt water the past 3 seasons, original owner kept it in fresh water. I pulled the exhaust boots off the riser ends to take a peek and there is still a lot of Iron them, and I've had no...

    Slow leak in outdrives

I have Alpha I Gen II outdrives. They're 12 yrs old. I noticed the last two seasons I needed to top off the gear oil a little more frequently then before (like every other week I need to add 1/4 inch to the gear lube bottle). I don't get water in the lube.. I just lose it slowly. This yr I...

4.3 MPI manifolds, risers and elbows

I plan on doing mine in the spring too. I have a 2002 Sundancer with the original parts. (elbows, risers manifolds) . Question: My elbows have a lot of apparatus attached to each side. My Seloc manual provides the steps to disconnect everything to get access. Seem straight forward enough...

    Blowing out the water lines

All this blowing out sounds like a lot of trouble, and you can end up leaving water in the system if you're not careful. What's the big deal about simply running pink through the system ?? I've done it now for three seasons and had no problems.
