Recently, I noticed a pretty nasty odor coming from my hot water system. Cold water system seems normal so, I'm guessing it has something to do with the hot water heater. Any ideas on where I should start to try to figure this out? Thank you.
To close out this Thread, I replaced the tank sending unit today and that resolved the problem. I checked the ohms on the old unit and it appeared to be functioning properly (30 ohms at full and 240 ohms at empty) so, the only thing I can conclude is the the float is saturated and remained on...
I grounded the pink wire directly to the battery neg term, turned on the key and the gauge did not move off of empty. If I leave the key on a short while, the Smart Craft sends out a Fuel Level failure alarm? I measured the sensor ohms and had 240(empty) so, I added 10 gals. (69 gal.tank) and...
Grounded the pink wire to battery neg term and gauge did not move. Can I add gas while checking sending unit ohms and if the ohms changes, sending unit may be good and gauge most likely the defective part?
That was it! Found it under the rear berth cushions. Grounded the pink wire and the gauge still did not move. Is there additional troubleshooting to do or, is it safe to consider the gauge bad? Thanks
My gas gauge on my 2004 240 Sundancer stays at empty regardless of the amount of gas in the tank (69 gal. tank). The next thing to check, I think, is the condition of the tank sending unit, but I cannot figure out how to access the top of the tank to check the sending unit. I removed the 10 gal...
I need to access the top of my 69 gal. gas tank to check/replace tank sending unit. It appears that I will need to remove the 10 gal. fresh water tank first. Anyone have any experience with replacing the gas tank sending unit on a 2004 SeaRay 240? Is it possible to order a new sending unit to...
It appears that my next step will be to remove and replace the gas tank sending unit. I will try to have the replacement unit on-hand when before I start. It appears that will have to remove the water storage tank to get to the top of the gas tank. How do I locate the replacement sending unit?
I tried this procedure today and selecting the tank size was first but my next screen when I hit Edit it gave me Default Calibration or Add Fuel? With DFLT and Add options only? No Edit button. Couldn't get it to work, any ideas? Thank you
I gassed up my 2004 Sundancer 240 the other day and the gas gauge stayed at 1/4 tank and then later dropped to empty. From what little research I have done so for, it appears that I may have a bad gas level sending unit. I looked in the engine compartment and it appears that the fresh water tank...
Did your original horn have four (4) wires? Mine does. When the horn is removed from the hull, it has two (2) separate small circular black housings each with two wires, and the hull has two circular hole saw drilled holes, drilled closely together so the horn will fit. I'm not sure what to make...
I had no idea what the horn is supposed to sound like but, if it is supposed to sound like a buzzer, then maybe there is nothing wrong with my original Sea Ray installed horn.
I just thought that the buzzing was indication of a defective horn, thank you.
The horn on my 2004 240 sounds odd, more like a buzzer than a horn. I pulled the horn loose from the bow and was surprise to find what looked like two separate horns mounted together, one with black and blue wires and one with black and red wires. I checked the wiring diagrams that came with the...
Yes, I marked the hoses and they are two different sizes. The bolt pattern and the pump rear plate will not allow the pump to be put together incorrectly. The problem is I am not getting seawater from the lower unit to the pump so the pump has nothing to pump, thanks.
After winter storage, I removed the seawater pump (2004 5.0 MPI Mercruiser Bravo 3 w/ belt driven seawater pump) and replaced pump impeller, all went well, until I started engine and had no water flow. Tried everything I could think of, including priming the pump. Disconnected the pumps water...
I want to install a windlass on my 2004 240 Sundancer where the anchor/rode locker is on the bow now. A Lewmar Pro Sport 550 has been recommended. I could use any ideas or suggestions as to how to perform this installation including mounting the windlass in/over the rode locker area and which...
