    85 300 sundancer propellers

I am looking at switching from the 14.5x19 aluminums, what model stainless prop did you go with?

Has anyone had to replace the black plastic inserts behind the helm seat grab handles? Mine are cracked and I am looking for a replacement option. Picture attached for reference.

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I ended up going with the Turning Point Hustler 4 blade aluminum in a 14.5x17. I ordered them from West Marine with the thought that I could take them back if I hated them. With tax and free shipping they were $210. My first runs were this weekend and I was happy with them. The boat jumped...

I would only compare numbers with other sterndrive boats, disregard inboard numbers as they will be different. Numbers will be slightly different from boat to boat even if both boats are sterndrive due to different weights. I am trying new 4 blade props on my alpha ones this weekend. I will...

I have the same boat and it loves to be run at 3000-3200 which gives me 26-30mph. At 2000-2500 you are probably running very inefficiently and producing a hefty wake. I open my boat up every year and get 42-4400 rpm and 41-45mph.

Need to replace Wood Engine Cover on 1981 Sundancer 260

I built one for a 1981 245 out of finished ply wood. I just coated it with Sikkens and it held up surprisingly well for not sticking a whole lot of time or money into it.

    Mercruiser Throttle/Shift Lever

Has anyone had to repair or replace their throttle/ shift levers from the 80's era boats? My father in law has an 86 300da with a few bad parts in one of his shifters. We are looking for somewhere to get parts for them or information on what people are using for replacements.

Ken, did you go with the turning point props on your boat?

I have been using the14.5X19 Black Diamonds as well with pretty good results other than hole shot when loaded heavy. It is manageable with tabs but I was hoping that a four blade would help to not have to use tabs every time.

Does anyone have any experience with the Michigan wheel vortex or any other 4 blade props for the Sundancers? I am looking at ordering them in a 15X16 as recommended by Delta Prop. I am currently running 14.5X19 aluminum mercruisers with decent performance but I would like to get a little...

    Dinghy Davit

Mark, How do you pull the dink up so high? I have a low swim platform on my 300 and have built a set of davits to raise the raft up high enough to ride safely. Everything works well with my setup but it is hard to pull the raft up and mine isn't as high as yours.

I took my back seat out so that I could fish the boat. The euro lounge seat that was in the back of mine was always in the way too. Deck chairs are the way to go, tell her that all the expensive boats use deck chairs.

89 300 DA soft spot in deck

You may want to check into doing the repair from the top and having the top half of the boat painted. I've talked to people that have had their boats painted with great results. I have a few soft spots in my 89 that I need to get after. One is off the port aft corner of the helm seat where a...

1986 Sea Ray 300 Sundancer Cruiser

The fuel tanks are 72 gallons each, 18 gallon waste tank, 40 gallon water tank, 6 gallon water heater. What is wrong with the outdrives? Why replace them? I believe my 89 had 1.5 ratio drives. If you do replace them, get one counter rotation for better handling at the dock. The Sea Ray...

Does anyone have a dinghy on an old 300 Weekender swim platform??

Thanks Hottoddie, those are all legitimate concerns. The tubes are in good shape and the platform is mostly solid, I plan on recoring it this winter to beef it up and maybe extend it. My boat is very stern heavy but, has no problems getting on plane or staying there. I have had a 10'...

Does anyone have a dinghy on an old 300 Weekender swim platform??

I'm going to bring this old thread back to life. Does anyone have any updates on this? I'm looking at mounting a 10' 2" RIB on the back of my 300. I'm wondering if the swim platform is strong enough to mount a cradle style davit like the hurleys or should I go with the weaver arc davits?

I recently bought a West Marine RIB 310 inflatable and am contemplating davits for my 89 300da. What is everyone using for davits on these boats with the short swim platforms?

    Pivot Davit Reviews

I was planning on fabricating my own so I can fix that problem. I was more concerned with the general idea of a pivoting cradle design.
