Whistling Noise from 5.0 MPI - Help / Advice needed? Gimble Bearing question also

I have a 2003 200 Select or limited with a 5.0 MPI and an Alpha 1 outdrive. I've had the boat for a little over a year and put about 35 hours on it. I am trying to determine if a whistling noise I hear as I start to throttle up is normal. This happens just in the first 10-20% of the throttle...

Small Cracks - Big Issue to Repair, or Nothing to Worry About?

I have a new-to-me 2002 Sea Ray 200 Select BR. There are some small cracks in the fiberglass below the windscreen and in that ledge in front of the windscreen, where it shoulders down towards the bow seat cushions. Is this something that needs to be repaired? Is there some way to stop these...

    Propping a 200 BR

Alright, I got the boat out by myself this past weekend. Probably half to half+ gas, otherwise, fairly empty. With the 19P vengeance, the rpms at WOT trimmed up, was probably 46 - 4800. So I know a 17P will over prop me, but am I doing any damage using it as long as I don't over-rev? What...

    Compatibility of Mercury Prop?

At this time, I am not really too worried about the hole-shot as we don't ski or wakeboard. As I stated earlier, I am looking for better handling and maneuverability while staying on plane at a slow speed. I have a 6 and 7 year old that I pull on a tube. If we can stay on plane at 15-18 mph...

    Dock Ramp Ediquitte

Old thread but I'm new here and enjoy reading these type of posts. My wife and I are fairly efficient. Generally takes us about 1-2 minutes to launch. Helps that my wife can back a trailer fairly well but doesn't get in a hurry. Once we're in the water and have outdrive dropped in the water...

    Compatibility of Mercury Prop?

We boat at around 3600 - 4000 feet elevation. Right now I'm running a 19 pitch ss 3-blade prop. I don't run WOT, I usually run around 3200 rpms which puts me at around 20 - 25 mph with the 19. I'm trying to get propped where I can get up on plane and stay there while maneuvering at around...

    Compatibility of Mercury Prop?

I found a high five mercury prop. How do I confirm it will be compatible with my outdrive/engine (alpha 1, 5.0 MPI)? I tried mercury.com and was prompted for name and password. The prop is a 48-821154-17P. My concern is that this came off an outboard mercury motor. Thanks.

    Another New-To-Me 200 BR Question

I posted earlier with a prop question and now I have another for you guys. I have an 02 200 BR with a 5.0 MPI engine. When throttling up, I hear a distinctive whistle at around 1800 rpm which becomes a whine and then goes away around 2000 rpm. Is this normal for the 5.0 MPI engine? I ask...

    Propping a 200 BR

Trim is always all the way down starting out. Once I get to a speed that I like and am on the straight-away, I will trim up somewhat.

    Propping a 200 BR

Thanks for the info. If I remember correctly, the boat rpm's at WOT is low 4000's. This is another reason I am thinking that at my elevation, I might need to step back to a 17p. What other styles or brands of props might I consider if I were to step back to a 17p? Also, when we are tubing...

    Clarion XMD3 for Sale

Would this work in an 02 200BR? Does this include a new control unit for the helm? Anyone help me out here. Thanks.

    Propping a 200 BR

I got our 200 BR out this weekend. Loved how the boat handled and how the hull responds to chop, wakes etc. I have a 19p on the thing but am thinking a 17 would be better for my purposes. When I open up the throttle, it revs to about 32-3400 and gets up on plane around 14 or 15 mph. After that...

    Propping a 200 BR

I recently purchased an 02 200 BR. It came with a 19p Vengeance prop. I am looking to purchase a 5 bladed prop and keep the Vengeance as a backup. Now the question is, what pitch to get? I have an Alpha 1 drive and a 5.0 MPI engine. I am in Montana and boat at elevations of around 3,500 feet...
