    Motor just went KABOOM!

Not a thing, temp was 145, oil pressure was around 50. Was running at 3500 rpm's with 4 people and 1/4 tank fuel and then pop pop pop. Shut it down as fast as I could and limped back to marina on the port motor. Really sucks too, both motors were rebuilt 2 years before I bought it and had less...

    Motor just went KABOOM!

My concern is the same about the mounts. My mechanic said he is not sure until he looks at it which will be next week. Anyone out there know if this switch is possible with the mounts. Thanks

    Motor just went KABOOM!

Well I guess the inevitable finally happened. Yesterday my starboard engine detonated, connecting rod through the block. My question is how much of a job to repower it with 4.3's instead of the 470 4cylinder? I know the 4's are ticking time bombs and my thought is at this point might be wise to...

To sand or not to sand?

Finally finished my teak swim platform inserts and they look great. I needed to take almost a 1/4 inch off them because they were so badly weathered and uneven. Started out with a plan to plane them down first and them sand but quickly learned that the staples they use to assemble them are very...

To sand or not to sand?

I thought about that also, but had to many blemishes on the bottom. The planeing is done now just a little sanding and routering the edges. What did you use for finish? They look great. Greg

To sand or not to sand?

I have removed them and was considering running them through a planer because they are so uneven. Taking off 1/4" I think will do the trick and then shim underneath. Thanks for the info guys, now I have some work to do. Greg

To sand or not to sand?

The teak is pretty thick, a little over an inch at least. It has some pretty deep spots on the ends where it is solid across but no cracks or splits anywhere. Was thinking about a DA sander then finishing with a block. It is the original teak and is a little grainy, what do you mean by Advil...

To sand or not to sand?

I am about to redo the teak inserts on my swim platform and have been told by some people to sand them before cleaning and oiling, but other people tell me you should not sand teak. They have not been done in a long time and there are uneven spots that could use some sanding. What is the...

    Best way to run A/C?

I haven't had any issues yet with it freezing up, but I prefer not to hear the fan all the time. This weekend was my first with it so I'll keep a close watch on it. Lucky, does your unit allow you to adjust the speed of the fan in low and high settings? My unit can adjust the low end and high...

    Best way to run A/C?

I just had A/C installed on my 270 and the unit has the option to run the fan continuously or cycle on and off with the compressor. Which way is recommended the most? It's a Marine Air Enviro 10k btu reverse cycle unit, and this thing works great. Just looking for the most effective way to run...

    Hole in the Water Club

I just had A/C installed in my 270Sundancer, 10k btu reverse cycle Marine Air Enviro unit and complete kit. Well complete kit is not everything you need for a new install as my mechanic let me know. The most difficult part was running the duct work but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I'll...

    Lake Champlain run

Burton Island State Park is very nice. It's located in St. Albans Bay and very well protected from the common southerly winds. Deep Bay in Point Au Roche is also very nice, but there is a fee for overnight moorings. Valcour Island is nice but on weekends is usually packed. There are numerous...

Thanks KC, I have someone fabricating a rod holder for me that will go on the starboard side, I have an external one there now but it is not solid enough. I have the single rod holder mount that I got with the grill so we'll see how it goes. Here is a picture with the current rod holder. Also...
