Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

No, that wasn’t me. I had a whole litany of initial issues with my previous new Sea Rays, but I chalk that up to “new boat punch list issues” that all new boat owners know about. It is best to let the first owner shake out all the bugs in the first two years and buy his two year old depreciated...

Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

I guess I was a visionary when I switched to Azimut through MarineMax in 2016. I looked at Sea Ray, Azimut, Prestige, Carver, and Cruisers. In my opinion, there were several challenges for Sea Ray to stay in this market. The greatest being to maintain the level of quality at the escalating...

    Official Cummins QSC-500 Thread

There may be more than one problem causing all this and you may have peeled away a few of them. Looking at your Racor filteres, I noticed that one of them shows dirt only on the lower half. My 48DA was doing that on one engine. The problem was air seeping into the fuel system under the Racor...

    Cummins impellers

Ha! Good luck with $135 on the QSC. The impellers are nearly impossible to pull without pulling off the pump (10 bolts and 2 o-rings) because of the wiring harness right forward of the pumps. You are looking at least 2 hours of labor and $150 for each impeller. Plan on $600.

    Cummins impellers

I pulled mine out in the winter layovers, stored them on the galley countertop to allow the vanes to open up, and got three years out of them, replacing them after three years while they still looked like new.

    Topcoat

You can spray WD40 on your badly oxidized gel coat and it will shine. That being said, I took a leap of faith and ordered a gallon for a trial over the summer. Understanding the chemistry and surface of oxidized paint and gel coat, it would be irrational to believe that Top Coat melts away...

Input on V Drives vs Zeus Pods

My current boat has a Xenta joystick that incorporates the wheels and thruster to spin, walk sideways, and maneuver through the fairways. I prefer not to use it. The biggest problem is that when you are backing into a slip and you want to correct the position of the bow, a joystick only gives...

Input on V Drives vs Zeus Pods

In general, yes. They have less drag with underwater gear. You'll see anywhere from 10% to 30% better fuel efficiency with pods.

Input on V Drives vs Zeus Pods

Going from your 310 to a 45-50 with v-drives and a thruster is going to be amazingly more easy to control while docking, easier and more controllable than pods. You can walk it sideways as the previous respondent indicated. People I know and have seen with the pods throw a lot of turbulence in...

48 Sundancer QSC540 performance fuel burn

Bingo. Those are my exact results. Keep in mind that between 1/4 and full fuel tanks plus water on board the weight of the boat can vary by 3,000 pounds. That will affect these numbers by a knot or two. These numbers also presume a clean bottom and trim tabs dialed in.

    Replacing Engine zincs

I pulled that one out of a friend's 3126 and it was a plug, not a zinc.

    Replacing Engine zincs

Zincs are cheap insurance. Rather than try to stretch them out to get your money's worth on a $2 zinc, replace them at shorter intervals. When you pull out a 75% depleted zinc, you might think you have a 25% reserve, but the truth is that the remaining 25% is mostly oxidized and does not...

    Interceptor trim system

I never heard of these before. You would think there would be more drag, but there isn't. No anodes needed. No hydraulic pumps or rams. No fluids to maintain. Automatic adjustment. Why wouldn't you want them? https://youtu.be/UlB67fa567c

Changing Impellers and Impact on Already Winterized Engines and Genny

You can start the project now by removing the impellers. The antifreeze will leak out, which won't be a problem. You could argue that air in the engine is safer than liquid antifreeze. You should not put the new impellers in now, because they will take a set.
