I loved my 215 EC, biggest little boat on the water. Mine had the 5.0 alpha. Amazing what things are priced at now. I bought a 1999 in 2007 for 12k. Was a bit chalky and had headliner stains from the leaky hatch but engine and outdrive were well maintained. Sold it 2 years later for 10k...
I am one of those guys who thinks flip-flops should be banned from boats. Seen too many major falls because of them. That being said, when boating at the cove and the deck will be wet from people swimming, I wear all rubber slides from
Underarmour, $15 on Amazon. Nothing I have ever tried...
The stock props on my 280 were 19P Mercury Vengeance props. I replaced them with 17P Mercury Mirage props at the recommendation of a prop expert. Said the 280 was too much boat for Vengeance props. Needed something with a larger blade surface hence the 15.5X17p Mirages. Went down in pitch...
I have a few issues with these vaccines. The brand new mRNA vaccine is playing with genetic material. Maybe minimal short term affects but what about 5, 10 years out? The old style though a proven methodology uses different species in which to cultivate the virus. This is part of what led us...
Nope, fuel and ignition. Ignition sensor controls both and no way to look at it and tell if it is bad or not. I'd try this first since it is $80 and a very quick fix before you start down the more expensive roads.

Mold has trouble growing if there is nothing for it to feed on. After removing all non-essentials and lifting all cushions to increase airflow, wipe down all surfaces with spray-nine which has anti-mold properties and then add the damp rids as stated earlier.
Yeah Henry. I've been boating in the Atlantic and repairing my own boats for 30 years. The boat in my profile is a 20 year old raw water cooled boat that has been flushed every time it's been started.
There is a big difference between a 20 year old saltwater boat and one that has only been used in fresh water. Long odds to get to 20 years with a saltwater cooled engine if you don't flush the engine(s) after every use.
You should remove the block adapter too. The gasket under it is rubber and another source of leaking, the bolt holding it on has a rubber o-ring, also another potential area to leak. If you can reach back, only 1 bolt to loosen and you can bring the lines and adaptor forward. Easier then to...
I had to deal with 2 Marine Max dealerships when buying my current boat, the dealership in MD where the boat was located and the dealership through which I bought the boat here in NY. I could not be happier with the service, accommodation and overall experience. The MD dealership gave me run...
I had Perko with festoon bulbs in the arch and attwoods for the courtesy lights (non-festoon) so I converted them all to Perkos. I bought remote control multicolor LED festoon bulbs on ebay and Now I can control every bulb independently up to 28 colors, flash them, fade them. Talk about a...
hopefully you picked up the o-ring and block adapter gasket too. This is one of those jobs you want to do on your workbench to minimize time stuck between the two blocks. Remove the block adapter the hoses are screwed into. 1 bolt and then disconnect the hoses at the oil filter. replace the...
If Biden gets elected there is no way the Dems will try to remove him in favor of the VP as long as Pelosi is speaker of the house. This is her opportunity to pull all the strings and virtually run the country. God forbid there is a blue sweep this election there will be nothing to keep that...
OK. I'm going to reach out to Kevin when it's practical. I was hoping just to get the seem fixed so I only removed this section of backrest before shrinking the boat. If I'm going to get this vinyl redone then I'm going to expand the job to other areas as well so It'll have to wait until...
Thanks for the info guys. Once I had it removed I can see what goes into removing the skin so yeah just redoing it is the best way to go. I have to wait until the boat is unwrapped so I can get the smaller remaining pieces of the backrest off so it all matches. I also hate to lose the Sea Ray...
Can anyone offer up a recommendation for a good vinyl repair shop, preferably on the south shore of LI? Seam let go on bench seat back. Also entertaining doing some other vinyl.
It would probably be a little easier if you were to remove the adapter from the block with the hoses still attached and then do a workbench disassemble/reassemble. If the hoses are failing then the o-ring for the adapter to the block is probably not far behind. $5 part. I have to do both...
I've had 9 boats all rafted of my plow anchor in Hemlock cove with a few rear anchors to keep us from swinging. 27lb plow and 12 feet of 3/8 stainless chain. Hauling that up afterwards wasn't fun. I wouldn't make a practice of it though. I had 5 boats on two weekends ago when the squall came...
