I have twin White 4-stroke 250 Yamaha's on my boat now (not a SR)...wife calls them the 'jewelry' of the boat so I think that's a good thing :). No smoke, and I have to make sure they're peeing water when I start them they're so quiet!
I just sent in payment for a new 2019 leftover...can't say I didn't have second thoughts though.....Can't wait for warm weather and put this in the past!!
A 15 year old well kept boat has depreciated from new quite a bit, and will most likely do so at a slower rate over the next 10 years
As another poster mentioned, the economy will come into play (think of what the boat you're looking at sold for 15 years ago vs current going rate).
I've always...
With the popularity of the 'day boat' and seeing more SR's with outboards, anyone think a CC could be in the future like the past Laguna model they used to make?
KRS
Thanks for the reply and suggestions Brad! This has been very frustrating to say the least! The shower/sink hasn't been used this year, nor is there any water in the freshwater tank. I will check ALL the port lights as you advise, and clean to ensure a good seal. I did notice my horn that...
I'm still trying to trace the source of a water leak, where I keep getting the carpet in the cabin floor wet. I've had the head port light fixed as it was leaking quite a bit, the sump box had some blockage in the line so a new line was run.
We've had a ton of rain in west Michigan this spring...
I may give the WD40 trick a try! Mine stopped working about a week after my courtesy Coast Guard inspection last year!
Either way, the canned air horn I keep at the helm is much better :)
Yikes! No wonder price below $40k!
Clean freshwater boats in West Michigan of the same year are bringing numbers in the $60k range!
Hopefully the 2004 will turn out better for you!!
Glad to see some new activity on this thread! I've narrowed down my search and the 290AJ is at the top of the list to replace my 270AJ!
One I will be looking at has a nasty rust stain from the hot water heater. I was told it's from winterizing it, but the rust stain will drive me nuts, even if...
Ahhh that makes sense (props)..I was curious too about the lack of bottom paint. I will reach out to the broker again and see what add'l info I can find out~
THANK YOU!!
Knot 10 Yacht Sales....I assume it's shrink wrapped...the pic's on BW were from a much warmer time :) I think it's been for sale since last summer
From the pic's the outdrives were repainted, the props look sketchy.
Thank you for the offer! It's listed on BW through a broker..I haven't heard from him since yesterday...says the boat is here:
2008 Sea Ray 290 Amberjack
Lanoka Harbor, NJ 08734
By the pic I assume it's at a marina, not sure which one though.
That makes sense. Kind of where I'm at..don't want to spend an airline ticket to NJ from MI if it was a hurricane recovery or some other MAJOR work done. Where does the information BHR gets come from? Marina's who do repairs, Lein company etc..?
Thanks for the reply!!
Hey All,
Does anyone use the Boat History Report when considering a new used boat? Seems similar to a Car Fax, other than the fact that most dealerships provide the CF for free, whereas the BHR is a pay as you go deal.
I realize a survey is a must, just wondering if the BHR is useful or...
You are correct...the pump was working but had water outside the box and found its way to the carpet below the step...wish it was a fiberglass liner with snap in carpet or fake teak there!
What TNT8808 said....I had a similar issue with my 270AJ that would drain into the head, down the drain and overwhelm the sump box below the stairs...I'd end up with wet carpet at the bottom of the stairs. Turned out the hidden screws need to be tightened. A 'quick fix' would be to tape over...
I'd like to see a pic of that!
I've seen a few with the flush mounted rod holders, but never 2 on the port side..I will have to double check the clearance aft of the battery switch box. Starboard side has room.
Lazy Daze -- yes, good quality rod holders are a MUST!
Captain TJ -- great...
Anyone make their 280 Sundancer "fishable"(salmon trolling on Lake MI) ? I've seen a few with a flush mounted rod holder on the port side, just behind the arch, before the battery/ignition switch box. I doubt another could be added aft of that?
I like the layout of the 280 (fold up transom...
Definitely get another boat. About 10 years ago I sold a boat in May, and didn't replace it until the following May..worst summer ever!
For all the $$ and aggravation they can cause, there's nothing like being on the water with family and friends!
