Any 220 Select owners out there?

After purchasing our 2003 220 in August 2010, I pulled the outdrive at the end of the boating season and found the drive shaft splines dry. The original owner obviously didn't properly grease this area, even though there are two grease zerks you can access behind the motor on the engine coupler...

Any 220 Select owners out there?

We have a 2003 with the 350 Mag and B3. Bought it used in 2010 and have put 250 hours on her. We love our boat and enjoy taking family and friends out. Having 6-7 people onboard is about the maximum number that's comfortable. We cruise, ski, wakeboard and tube and it has plenty of power for...

    Top speed 52mph

When I first purchased my 2003 220 in 2010 I pushed it to 59 on the GPS with only me on board, 3/4 tank of fuel, no bimini, and loaded with normal gear (pair of skis, waveboard, life jackets, ropes, etc.). I don't care to run it that hard on a regular basis.

Trailer bunk repair needed. Your thoughts?

Dennis, Thanks for the feedback. The GVWR of the trailer is 6600 LB. You are correct, I do not have a cross member in the right location to tie down as MM does. I'll probably go straight down...better than nothing. R/ Jeff

My Boat is out of commission for the next week or two :(

Tim, Very sorry to hear about your accident. Fortunately no one was hurt. Material objects are easily repaired or replaced. That's why we have insurance. I often boat on the Potomac River and there are many creeks that are under 10 ft. If you want smooth water for watersports, you really...

Trailer bunk repair needed. Your thoughts?

Lazy Daze, Accident happened about a month ago coming home from the Lake. Yes, I'm very sure the bow was tight against the stop. No, the strap wasn't recently out any distance. Traffic was heavy/stop-n-go and I was trying to merge into another lane. I wasn't moving very fast < 5MPH. After...

Monaco Mike, Great Idea. I will look into doing something similar on my setup. Thanks, Jeff

Trailer bunk repair needed. Your thoughts?

I found out first hand that a bow roller is no match for a hard stop even though the bow eye was below the roller and secured tightly against the rollor. Fortunately the boat did not end up in the back of my F250

    350 MAG Questions

After pulling the kids around on the tube for a short time and coming aroundto let them climb back on, I pull the throttle back to neutral and the RPMsonly drop to 1000. About 3-5 seconds later they drop again, to the point wherethe engine sounds like it will stall and then all of a sudden the...

    engine overheat. 350mpg 5.7 ltr bravo 3

My 2003 350 MAG runs at +170 at idle. I see 175 - 180 when at 3000 to 3500 RPMs and maybe +185 at WOT, but it hard to tell because the temp gauge doesn't have much resolution. I have a brand new impeller installed this Spring.

    My New Boat

Congratulations and nice looking boat Scott. Don't forget preventive maintenance on the trailer. Suggest you pull the hubs and clean and repack the wheel bearings. I'd also invest in a full boat cover. Jeff

    Merc drives

We had a Alpha drive for 14 years on a 18 ft. bowrider with a 3.0L and it was a dependable outdrive. I now have a 220 bowrider that is similar to the 230 and about the same weight. It has a 350 MAG with a Bravo 3 and I absolutely love it. It will get on plane in a about 4 seconds. I think...

Found Dry Coupler after pulling Bravo 3

I'm considering pulling the motor myself. I've done major vehicle maintenance in the past. Pulled and replaced an engine, removed a manual transmission and replaced serviceable parts. Pulled and replaced heads, intakes and other engine components. Any opinions or comments on doing the work...

Found Dry Coupler after pulling Bravo 3

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate everyone's input and these are great points to consider. I know the correct answer is to change it. Preventive maintenance is smarter than correctiver maintenance. I need to decide soon before the local marine mechanic gets too busy. He said around...

Found Dry Coupler after pulling Bravo 3

Last fall I purchased a 2003 220 BR with the 350MAG/Bravo 3 and 200 hours on the boat. Came to this site and learned a lot from everyone on procedures, tools, alignment tool and drive stand needed to pull and service the outdrive. Thanks!!! I also have the Bravo service manual. This past...

    Tow Vehicle Decisions-Help

The Ford 6.0L Diesel had some problems early on. Mostly due to trying to meet new EPA diesel emission guidelines and the addition of an EGR valve and EGR cooler. Remember when gas engines had all the EPA emission equipment added? Those engines were dogs and plagued with problems. It's a learning...

    2003 220 350 MAG w/B3

Thanks for the welcome guys. The previous owner had the impeller replaced at 155 hours. It has 200 hours now. I think I'll be okay for 2011. The canvas is putty. I agree, it looks gray in the picture. I have more pictures, but not sure if I should attach them here or post them elsewhere...
