We are looking at a few 48 Sundancers. Fantastic boats for us, but are seeing, and reading, about some of the issues with the high gloss cherry cabinetry and woodwork in some boats of this era.
there are clearly delamination issues, bubbling, and clouding that is well documented. However...
For those of us in the Pac NW - boats would ship to Vancouver. There's a route from Florida to Vancouver that they do larger boats a few times a year. Your broker should have the details. It's how brand new big Sea Rays get up here from the Florida factory.
No, it is not cheap. I seem to...
All the wiring changes were done in that gray solenoid box (if my memory serves me). The generator feeds the battery charger AC that charges my batteries. I suppose I could feed the generator battery a charge when the generator is running. It was just easier to me to use a combiner off...
I installed a combiner off the port bank to keep a dedicated generator battery charged. Then, I wired the generator to that battery for starting duty. Very cheap insurance.
i expanded my port bank to 4 group 31's. My starboard bank is still 2 group 31's. The thruster batteries are their...
The boat had 9XX hours on it when we purchased it. I pulled the pumps soon after as I went through the entire raw water side. I do not know if the pumps are original or not. I just know the pumps were working 100% when I took them off.
I replaced 2 Cummins standard Sherwood seawater pumps a couple seasons ago. They worked perfectly when pulled out. I replaced with SMX pumps from SBMar along with a bunch of other seawater cooling service work.
Would be great as spares to carry onboard.
Looking for 300/ea shipped. Or...
Leave Bellingham for Roche Harbor for night 1.
Leave Roche Harbor for Victoria for rights 2 and 3. Clear Canadian customs
Leave Victoria for Todd Inlet/Buchart Gardens on anchor for night 3 and 4.
Leave Todd Inlet for Ganges for night 5. Eat at the treehouse.
Leave Ganges for Friday Harbor for...
The 47 Sedan was a great boat, that came in right at the decline of the economy. They just didn't make many of them. The concern I have with the boat is I didn't find it very kid friendly or comfortable when you are hanging out inside. It has a great dining table, but not much else for...
A hotwater heater is only a couple hundred bucks... it's going to be the labor to pull the old, and put in the new. With the age of the boat, it might not be a bad thing. They don't last forever. Maybe 3-4 hours labor, and 2-300 bucks for the water heater.
Stuffing boxes -- Probably just...
I like the recommendation of a temp fix to get you back on the water for the season, then ship the boat back to the factory - and have them put a new hull in it for you. They can transfer the engine, and alot of the parts/peices - but you'd essentially get a new boat. You might even save on...
I just wish that these larger, new boats were affordable. My dealer is sitting on a 2015 510 fly for 1.8 million retail. not L class.... But a meridian 490 pilot house in 2005 was 500k or so. I know that's 10 years ago.... But holy cow.
