Great idea, looks like it increased your headroom considerably!

    Official (1990-1993) 270/290 DA thread

A tree limb fell on my 270 and took out the port windshield ($2000 from MarineMax) and tore up the bimini. I was considering a hardtop to replace it, in the Texas sun you want the shade. Anyone do anything like this? Any disadvantages to a hardtop? In the two years I've had the boat I've never...

    Engine trouble

The incorrect weight oil can cause the same problems. Have you changed it? Do you know what kind of oil is in it? You can also "fix" some of these problems by going to a different weight oil, for example if a 25w50 weight oil exhibits these problems, a straight 30w may buy you some time.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with your engines.

    Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor

They use them on cars and they are referred to as MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensors. It's just a matter of removing and replacing it but check the electrical connections before you spend the money.

    Dripless Seal

Several things to keep in mind about ratings on bilge pumps. The flex hose (as opposed to smooth hose) plus the height the pump has to lift the water severely limits the amount of water they pump. The ratings probably aren't what you'll achieve in actual performance.

    Upsizing trim tabs - advice?

Great write up and pictures, I'm considering doing mine. At no wake speeds I constantly have to rock the wheel back and forth. I'm thinking of changing out my tabs to the bat-wing style, I've heard they help reduce the wandering of a single engine setup. Also the ATC is a no-brainer to me, I...

raw water impeller on port engine went out

Not having v-drives I do have a question about lubricating the shaft seals on the engine not running. From what I've read on posts here unless you have a system that crosses over to both shafts you can ruin your seals running on one engine. Is this a concern on your boat?

Question in ref to fresh water system (cockpit) in 2005 220 BR

Check the screens at the faucets and the one on the pump. The faucet screens are just like at home, unscrew them and check for debris.

    Tach and speedometer problems

EDIT: Wow - it took me an extra 9 minutes to type that, compared to Dick! I took typing in high school (class of 72) because I was the only guy in class plus the teacher was a knockout! Never dreamed I would actually use the skill. Started using a computer at work in 1973 (the only one with...

    Only in Alaska....

We watch out for the large shipping containers from ships in the Gulf of Mexico. Depending on the contents they may float above or below the water.

cutting fiberglass for speaker opening - need suggestions, ideas

I purchased a router base for my dremel tool along with roto-zip bits and it works great, fits in places a full size roto-zip won't.

I usually set my shop vac below a job like that, keeps the bits and dust down.

    Tach and speedometer problems

First guess on the speedo is a bad hose. Since the speedo works on pressure it sounds like you're not getting a good seal. Do you have a way to test it's integrity? Of course the speedo itself could be bad also. Tachs are notorious for bad connections. On most tachs there is a small switch to go...

Cold start, long crank times Where's the gas?

Not familiar with any type of check valve but for a cold start problem I'd check the operation of the choke. When I start mine cold I first pump the throttle about 3 times (depress the release button on the throttle so you're not shifting) to activate the accelerator pump and squirt some gas in...

    twin 3.7L alternator conversion question

My first question would be why you feel you need a larger alternator? Unless you're adding a heavy load the larger alternator probably won't charge your batteries any faster. Batteries will accept a large charge initially but taper off as they charge. It generally takes a long slow charge to...

    Boat trailer shopping help

I tow my 1990 270 with a tandem axle aluminum trailer with torsion axles. Mine has surge brakes and I'm completely satisfied with it. Boat weight with a/c and generator is 8200 lbs.

    Hello

Get the HIN (hull identification number) and you can tell what year it is. Look under customer support on the searay.com website for the owners manual and sales brochure. I have a 1990 model and love the layout.
