I have had the same issue for years with my 185 Sport. I replaced the sending unit 3 times, replaced the gauge, checked the polarity, etc.... My issue is that the gauge reads fine from a full tank to 1/2 full, then it reads empty. Then around 1/2 tank it reads accurate again. My best guess...

Easy to do and works fine. I used marine silocone and it works great. I'm sure several folks will chime in and say silicone isnt the way to go, but I have never had any problems at all. Plus, mounting it this way doesnt paint you in a corner if you decide you want to move it later.

That is not a Humminbird. I know because I have the same one, which no longer works, and I searched forever to find what it was. It is a gauge made by Norcross Marine. Google them and you will find it. It is likely listed as a Hawk Eye since I think they now make the gauges for Norcross...

Ok. So, for a new fishfinder would it make more sense to just put a new shoot through in behind this one, or is it simple to just pop this one out and put a new one in. Arent through hulls more accurate? Are they typically standard sizes? I plan on replacing the old gauge with a clock.

Thanks. Ill try that. Just so I ask, I am assuming you mean pull it from the gauge? The connections at the sendor are actually a clip of sorts that clip together to the wiring coming from the gauge, so there isnt anything to sand. I'll take a look tonight and see what happens.
