Hi guys and gals,
I'm wondering if anyone has used Thomas Compinetto at T.C. Marine Surveyors lately out in Hauppaugh??
I had recomended him to someone here a while ago, but I dont know how or if he was contacted.
Now I need him myself for a survey, but cant get thru on his line...
I'm...
Indeed, JMV....I know twin screws handle better with manuverability and maintenance is better, which are good points...
I always liked my I/O, the way it handled, ran, and I got very used to it as I always docked stern in...as far as the "sandbox" we play in out here, like you mentioned it's a...
Great advice and opinions, guys...I can ALWAYS count on my SeaRay Brothers!!!
My ole 268, the Storm II, was taken by SS Sandy, and I just loved her single 454 (or 462, as it was bored .40 over), and Apha 1- So Im just looking around for something...When Im looking at Sea Rays, I see this combo a...
...and maybe some opinions...
I have an opportunity to look at a 1989 SeaRay 270 Sundancer with twin carb'd 4.3's with Alpha 1 Gen 1 outdrives....
I'm sure someone has this set up here.....What's your take on this combo?? Im not looking to win any races. Will mostly be cruising and fishing...
I had Tom Compitello from T.C. Marine Surveyors in Hauppauge, LI survey my boat, 631-360-4312. Had that boat for 10 years until Sandy took her. I found him to be quite professional. I'm going to use him again when I find my next boat.

I agree, Mike. I would rather have 5.7's as well, or a single big block....I was just curious as to what people think. I've read that, that power option (t4.3's) was fine, and then I've read that it's kinda underpowered...Like I mentioned, I just happened to come across it, and it looks great...
Yes, BigBlock, she was repowered in 2006 with the 4.3 MPI's and Bravo III's...has about 350 hours on 'em.
I do believe it is a 280 Sundancer....spec's state LOA=31ft 11 in. ; beam= 10ft 6in. 2ft 8 in draft and dry weight at 8000lbs.....
I came across it sort of near me, and was a possible...
Alrighty....As my beloved 268 of 12 years was taken by Sandy, I've been on the lookout. Not exactly sure what I'm looking for, as I was thinking of going back to a full out, utility sportfisherman, or something along the lines of my old Sea Ray with the accomodations below, and room to fish...
Thanks Xplicit...Im sure Im not the only one in that position...I see from your reply post that it happened to you too. Nice you got a new one already, Im looking at the moment, havent see anything I like so far- unless I want to spend 100 grand! I'm keeping my eyes open!
I also hope the...
No, Xplicit, havent been on the water as my boat was taken by Sandy.....I took the duck boat out a little bit, but with that, I just troll around the marsh areas, not really going out far with that!
I have heard some things regarding possible changes at the Great South Bay, Jones Inlet channels...
Is that just in S.I.?? I know my guy is open and fully operational- Diesel and 89 & 93 octain gas...Not to mention live & frozen baits and tackle. They reopened about 2 weeks ago after a full renovation after Sandy. It's the Bay Park Fishing Station in Oceanside, NY...
I havent heard anything...
I dont and wont put a price on my seasonal costs, it's all in the pursuit of happiness! Whether fishing, cruising, entertaining or whatever....
Reminds me of some words in the song "Cool Change" by the Little River Band:
'Well I was born in the sign of water
And it's there that I feel my best...
I named my boat after my pure bred German Shepard. Got her when I was two, she lived a good 12 years.
Didnt know what to name my current boat, so....
Storm II
Yes, it is tricky....
If I do plan on using varnish, I would totally strip the teak (power wash), clean, sand down, ect....before the varnish.
I've seen (on other boats) the peeling effect, and wouldnt want that.
I'd have to do some research and see what the best plan of attack would be. But at...
Ron,
I also like the 'varnished' look. My father and grandfather used marine varnish on the old Lyman, and it looked amazing!
I'd like to try it on my stuff next season. We'll see??...
There's just so much of it on my boat...
