Microwave ovens are rated in power output. That's how much power is emitted by the magnetron to cook food. Obviously, the higher the rated power output, the higher the input power will be. The input power could be rated in watts (on a label on the rear of the oven) or in amps. At any rate, the...
You must be close to the transmitting antennas. You're lucky. Mine got worse and I installed the newest, largest antenna I could find. I used to be able to watch TV from 8 localities by rotating the antenna: Washington, Baltimore, Richmond, Manassas, Fairfax, Independent Hill, Charlottesville...
Or is it overloaded? Is the boat kept in the water.? Could it be that the hull has absorbed quite a bit of water? Sea Ray's aren't usually underpowered.

Sounds like you got a pretty good working knowledge of how to do it. I would do the two bow lines to 2 and 3 with plenty of slack. I use my boat hook to assist in attaching and detaching lines to pilings. Stern lines should be crossed. Sometimes you can get away with one spring line. A lot...
Dave,
You can find wiring diagrams for your boat here: http://www.searay.com/boat_graphics/electronic_brochure/Company1729/1C1_23_74DEJAJSZ1U.pdf
Larry
You don't state your boating history or the type of water you boat on, so here's my input: For it's length of 18.5 feet, your boat is pretty narrow at only 7.5 feet. The shorter the boat and the narrower the beam the rougher it will ride. The angle of attack that you use to approach a wave or...
Have you looked at Boating magazine?

I am on the downside of a 2 year subscription. It's a decent magazine, but I didn't find it to my liking.

FM works best when the antenna length is about 30 inches. My previous boat had the radio wire tied to the bow rail. AM worked great because the longer the antenna the better. They actually included a dipole antenna in the boat, they just folded it up and tied it to the rail. I disconnected it...
John,
If you're willing to spend a little extra money, you can get over 300HP out of that 5.7. A camshaft upgrade, Vortec heads and matching intake manifold will do the trick. Does your engine currently have a 4bbl carburetor?
Larry
Hmm, seems that the 16P would be pretty close to correct. Is the hull clean? Is the engine in good tune? Is your gas fresh? Is the engine carbureted? I ask that because if the secondaries aren't functioning properly you won't get full power. Is the outdrive original? Your outdrive ratio should...
My Sea Ray has an accessory position on the ignition switch. Just turn it counter-clockwise and the radio will play without powering the engine electronics. If yours doesn't have that, then you'll have to change the power wiring to the radio.
Larry
Are you sure about what boat and engine you have? According to the Sea Ray website, the '89 Amberjack was only available with twin engines. Has yours been changed?
Larry
Is that with your battery switch in the "Off" position? Perhaps the ammeter on the charger is inaccurate. A fully charged, new battery should not draw more than 1 amp, and most likely half that. It could also be that your charger is not going into float mode. Put a voltmeter across the battery...
