Sound Shield is not an option. If you were familiar with the engine compartment of a 268 with twins and a genny, you would understand. You cant even barley change the oil, and impeller on the genny, much less jam a shield down in there. Plus, sound shield for the Onan would probably have to be...
I pitch down for Powell. My 268 is a dog getting out of the hole up there on 21's, so I drop to a 19. Im also carburated, EFI may not have the same problems.
Need to take up a poll here. in my 1988 268 Sea Ray Sundancer I have an old, noisy Onan 3 kw genny with about 400 hours on it (raw water cooled). In my dealings I've come into a 1997 freshwater Kohler 4kw with 90 hours on it (Closed cooled), and a 2005 Westerbeke 3.0 kw with about 300 hours on...
I believe www.swimplatforms.com has a direct replacement for that platform. You may try reaching out about getting one rather than go through all the trouble of re-coring.
You'll want to purchase some new hose, and replace the fittings since they are compression. If you have a local hydraulic hose store near by, they may be able to help with replacement hose and fittings, or go this route...
The hulls were indeed made as one piece of fiberglass, then they glassed in the internal stringer structure. IF it was built before 1988 they were thick as hell. Then in 88 -90 they used a foam/wafer type material to lighten up the hulls and use less glass. I drilled through the side on and 1986...

My goal was to get the Portti Potti out of the boat and get a toilet that was a little more...friendly. I wanted the waste out of the head area and in the engine compartment. With your set up, it was designed so that the portti potti tank could either be pumped out, or discharged...
Hi Jack,
I used to have the little porrti potti set up that came factory, w/ pump out. I did not have the macerator option. With the tank I installed I was able to still use my pump out fitting, but I had to run a hose from the tank I mounted in the engine compartment. The tank I bough had 1...
You will tie into a port that is on the front of the intake manifold and the other point is on the circulating pump on the fron tof the engine. You will see plugs in both of these areas, and you will need to get a nipple threaded on one end and barbed on the other to go in where you take the...
Wow....That was a read....Think I need a cocktail.
My only hope, is that whoever buys the company, regardless of market trends, does not sacrifice the Sea Ray brand/quality to make cheaper/chinsey boats. I'm scared it will go like the Mariah brand, once a quality boat, sold off to Sea Fox...
