I had the same boat and i was running the same exact #s.. i did try a bigger pitch prop.. I think a 21 and the boat was a dog getting on plane.. and didnt make much difference in cruising speed..

The boat next to me is a 280 and it has twin 350's w/alphas.. he cruises 25 mph (gps) at 3500 rpm.. he is spinning 15x15's .. is that normal?? what are other 280's cruising at and top speed, and props?? my 300 out runs him and out cruises his boat by alot.. btw he can only get 4100rpms top...

the set up was on the boat when i bought it.. i can measure it for you if you want.. i will be at the boat tommorrow..

i have a good on mine.. i think i have the same pulpit as you have.

i would change the whole drive.. my luck if i did the upper i would lose the bottom when i was away with the boat.. everytime i cheap out it seems to bit me..

check stringers, most likely wet due to the weep holes in them.. I would pull tanks too.. are you talking about repacking the stuffing boxes?? if its a weekender it is inboards.. if you are restoring do dripless seals..

nice link.. a guy at my marina has an alpha on a r gimble.. and he doesnt believe me when i tell him he has an alpha on his boat.. now i can send him the link..

its an alhpa, the older r models have a tow eye on the top of the drive. and where the r bolt up to the gimble housing the out drive is rounded yours the alpha is straight.

what size is the shaft tube on my 89 weekender.. i want to order dripless seals,and i havent had time to run down and measure.. been looking at lasprop anyone have any luck with them thanks..

are you looking for a used genset or new.. i have been looking for awhile now.. best of luck with her.. they are not that bad to work on.. unless its on the front of the engine.. How did you find the boat.. (craigslist,want ad ?? ) i am thinking about selling mine and moving up.. not enough...

Looks like you bought her in newburgh, and now you got her up at catskill creek.. I got the same boat.. we do some overnights up at your marina.. I will look for you the next time i am up there..

The cams are different.. they are reverse ground for the backwards firing order.. the gears are on the backwards engine.. to change direction of the cam so it will rotate the same as the standard engine.. and so the distribitor spins the same way as the standard.. and oil pump...

stringers (weep holes), the anchor locker (poor design leaks) can be fixed.. side window leaks. check inside where the deck meets hull.. mine started leaking under where the radio is.. made some nasty water stains pain to get out.. check fuel tanks.. the wood in my seats started to rot also.. my...

nice trip, good pics... 1000 islands is my favorite place to boat.. i bring my trailer boat up there... blows my mind everytime i go up there how nice it is and how clear the water is comparied to the hudson...

I love my marina.. (location and people there) but wish it was a club.. the owner doesnt do nothing but collect $$$$ and everyone does work there to keep it up..
