    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

As some of you may have followed over the last several months, I am possibly selling my 2004 280. I have a signed Purchase Agreement with a potential buyer subject to the survey and sea trail. He had two gentlemen out on the boat (one for the engines/generator and one for hull/general...

Anyone have an idea of the cost to replace risers and manifolds on a 280 with Alpha I's?

    Kohler Generators

My mechanic had someone from Kohler on the boat and texted me this morning saying it was a defective temperature switch. Apparently it works now but I still need to go see it for myself.

    cockpit cupholder

I am very happy. It came pre-drilled and perfectly lined-up with the existing holes. Rich even provided the hardware!

    cockpit cupholder

I experienced the same issue and purchased the teak cupholder below from Rich Goodale at Goodale Marine http://www.goodalemarine.com/. I couldn' be happier with the results. The center compartment is perfect for cell phones or other items you don't want sliding all around the cockpit.

    Kohler Generators

I have now had two different and well respected mechanics on the boat and neither was able to identify or fix the problem. I am now awaiting a visit from the local Kohler representative...which should be interesting. I am happy a manufacturer representative will be visiting but I cannot...

    Overheating Engines?

Took the boat out again this afternoon/evening for the fireworks and the port engine did not overheat. It ran within 8-10 degrees of the starboard unit in the no wake zone and on plane. I haven't ever paid too much attention to this but I assume the bag or whatever I picked-up is gone and all...

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Both forward cabin speakers were working and confirmed that the two wires into the amplifier were secured. No change in the cockpit. I then reversed the two wires into the amplifier and the the port side started working and the starboard side shut-off. I am not sure what needs to be done but...

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

I did not check either the cabin speakers or ensure all the wires at the amp were secure. I will check those out and appreciate the recommendation!

    Overheating Engines?

Now that you say it, there were several plastic bags floating around near my slip in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor. I guess I will have to investigate further.

Question guys....the two speakers on the port side in my cockpit are not working although the two starboard speakers are fully functional. Any ideas as to what the problem might be here?

    Overheating Engines?

I took the boat out this afternoon, ran it for maybe 30-40 minutes, before shutting down the engines to allow some friends to take a dip in the bay. The boat ran without problem on the way out but after about 20 minutes of swimming I attempted to start the port engine but had a constant alarm...

Cool custom cockpit table for my 340

I have done business with Rich at Goodale Marine and had him make teak floors made for the cabin, head and companionway step. I am currently working with him on a custom table for my 280 Sundancer. I can't stand the little round plastic table that came with the boat. I am looking forward to...

When to do a Marine Survey

I agree Frank. Any additional imput on my survey/sea trail questions is appreciated. In an effort not to create another thread, does anyone who has gone through the process know how the financials in the transaction work. More specifically, does he write me a check and then I pay off my loan...

    Holding Tank Vent Filter

I want share that purchasing the filter from Better Boat Products was very easy and I recieved it quickly thereafter. I climbed into the extremely tight engine compartment of the 280 Sundancer yesterday afternoon, unhooked the existing filter (which was original) and started to install the new...

    Kohler Generators

Unfortunately, I confirmed that the tricks shared to eliminate air pockets in the coolant were unsuccessful. I have enlisted the help of a mechanic who said the easiest way to get at everything is to move the fresh water tank. He believes that the coolant sensor is grounding out and sending a...

When to do a Marine Survey

I took the reach terms in advance on the survey and sea trail route with things progressing nicely. Actually, it is likely all terms and negotiating will conclude this evening. The only reason this didn't occur last Thursday is because I have really struggled with the decision to sell the boat...

When to do a Marine Survey

Great points guys! What is considered a customary deposit? Is it typically refundable? I have tried selling the boat myself very passively without much effort the last two years and for the first time this has me thinking about how much I would miss it...
