    Official 320 Dancer Thread

I get the same fuel economy at the same speed. It runs great when its light on fuel, but it squats with a full tank and I need to really push it hard to get the bow to drop down. If I push it to 3900rpm, the bow will stay down with very little tab. The hull performs well at 24+ mph, any...

Any recommendations for a 12V cooler?

I bought the igloo model at Costco. It works very well. We go on two week trips often and we never have a need for ice. It takes about 24hrs for it to get cold, especially with warm beverages. The power drawer is extremely minimal. I had it on my other boat for 3 days on a single deep cycle...

Larger Trim Tabs or 4 Blade Props on a 320DA to get the bow down.

Again, thanks for the replies. The boat has 500 hrs, 250 hrs are from me. I have owned the boat for 4 years. I had the hull surveyed when I bought it. 2 years ago I had the bottom media blasted and barrier coated and repainted (It didn't need it, but I'm a finatic) I had the props balanced...

Larger Trim Tabs or 4 Blade Props on a 320DA to get the bow down.

Thanks for the replies. The boat is miserable to run under 3800rpm @ 24mph. If I run slower I am squatting and throwing a huge wake with the tabs buried. If I run up in the higher rpm and speeds I can pull the tabs up and the bow will stay down.. As soon as I pull the throttles back to run a...

Larger Trim Tabs or 4 Blade Props on a 320DA to get the bow down.

I am thinking about putting larger tabs on my 2003 320 DA. I have to run it pretty hard to get the bow down. I have V-drives and I have to run at 3800-4000rpm to get the bow down.

    Navigating Moriches Inlet/bay BE CAREFUL!!!

I see some fellow owners/members concerned with navigating Moriches. The Moriches Inlet is OK at best. It can be a bit tricky, but there is an east and a west cut. They can be hard to see from the ocean side. From the East you need to stay right on the tip and head into the middle and once...

I need help with 5.7 EFI Mercruiser

I was looking at your problem and it sounds all too familiar. After running at 1000 rpm pull your spark plugs out. You may have water getting into your combustion chamber. I had a similar problem after replacing my exhaust with aftermarket Sierra exhaust and one of the manifolds where...

Hey Russ, it Anthony, we met at Watch Hill. We had a good time with you guys. Ive been shopping for my new sound system, your is awesome! Where did you buy the JL speakers? I can't find them. For less than $280 a pair. After seeing your camper top, we had our canvas guy at our house on...

Faded Paint top of outdrive area

I used a clear "anti-foulant" on the lower unit if my yamaha outboard and it looked alot like that after it came out of the water. It may be something the previous owned tried on the drive and removed it from the easier surfaces.

    77 Merc 165 wont crank

If the engine is hydrolocked it means that there is water in the upper half of the engine. Pistons travel up and down in the cyl, compressing air and fuel... It then fires when it is on the combustion stroke. If you get water in the cyl, it cannot be compressed, therefore it is locked...

    77 Merc 165 wont crank

Sounds like your on the right path. I would take the belt off and make sure all the accessories are spinning freely. Pulling the drive is a good idea anyway. It may just be a gimble bearing that is locked up.

Metallic type rap under load 7.4

If you free rev the engine do you have noise? If you put it under a load if its a slow bang is more than likely a drive issue. Take a look at the fluid and look for metal. If the boat was put away with water in the lower unit it may have pitted the bearings causing them to let go. Try runing...

    Had to get towed in...

The manifold is the exhaust part connected to the engine. The riser is inbetween the manifold and the elbow. If the are original they will probably have stickers with serial number for engine on them. You cant see if they are bad by looking at them on the engine. You need to pull them off...

How Long Should it Take to Change 320 6.2l Impeller?

Thanks, it seems to be a great alternative. I do everything myself on my boat and I do most of the maintance on a few in our fleet. This can be a great way to save me from some broken ribs.

    Had to get towed in...

Water injestion is caused from not replacing the exhaust. The elbows and risers are to be changed every 5-6 years in a salt water application. If you have not changed the exhaust, this is most likely why the water is in the engine. Do you still have oil pressure when it is running? If you...

How Long Should it Take to Change 320 6.2l Impeller?

This looks like a volvo water pump. Its a much easier pump to service. Ive never seen anyone retrofit this to a mercruiser, but hey, why not. I like this idea! I am going to do some research.

How Long Should it Take to Change 320 6.2l Impeller?

I have been working on boats all my life and I can honestly tell you that this is one of the worst boats I have ever worked on. If all goes well, as others have stated it should only take an hour or two for each engine. As you know with boats nothing is ever easy, and its never the same job...

Fuel Pump maybe? Help me diagnose

It sounds like you may have a clog on the pick-up in the fuel tank or you have a bad fuel pump. If its an electric fuel pump, make sure you have 12v with the ignition on. If its mechanical try filling the fuel filter with fresh fuel to prime it. Either way if you pull off the fuel line off of...
