    BVI's & USVI's October 20th to 29th

Hope for good weather this time of year! Have you been to Anegada before? If not, the lobster roast is to be recommended!

Son wants to use the boat

Another thought. If saying a flat no isn't something you want to do, and I'd understand that (who wants to completely cut their son out of something?), one other option is to set a series of requirements he has to meet: 1. He must have financial skin in the game, so he has to put on deposit...

Son wants to use the boat

He's 30 years old so he should be able to understand no when he hears it and not act immaturely about it. I'd say no. Later on, if you have greater confidence in his maturity, as evidenced by his reaction to being told no, and how he handles the boat and his drinking, you can reconsider, but...

    slip width to boat beam

It depends on how good you are at docking, but to me, that's a little tight. My slip is 16 ft wide so I have plenty of space for the same beam

    Steering / Rudder Angle Question

When I bought my boat, I noticed during the survey that the wheel wasn't straight when the rudders were centered and asked about that. The response from the mechanic was that this was more or less normal and that they move as you use the boat (don't know why), but it's true. I've noticed that...

    Scratched the ITCH! Jumped 13'!

I've been married 33+ years and I'm still clueless on how to "operate her"...oh, you mean the boat!:smt043 Seriously, CONGRATS and BEST WISHES!

Just looking around for a 1988 340, I'm not buying but this looks good.

Well Sea Ray IS a magical company. For instance with a wave of it's wizardly wand, it increased the lengths of it's boats somehow without changing anything. The 36DB because a 390DB, etc. I'm not surprised that they could create 3 gallons of gas out of thin air.

    Too hot to go boating?

I have a good friend has one of those in his C-182 and he says it works. Of course, you'd have to replenish the ice, but isn't that what coolers are for?

    New Antennas installed

Heather, I gotta say, you have more energy than most people I know. If it had been me, I might have brought the carpet home and it would be rolled up in a corner still. Nice job!

    New Canvas

My understanding is that boats with V-Drives didn't have the option because of Carbon Monoxide poisoning concerns.

    New Canvas

I like that idea and if I could find someone selling it for my boat, I'd buy it.

    New Canvas

I do think you'd need to add side braces further out on the hoop or it would cause the whole thing to flop up and down while underway. I am seriously thinking about this for a winter project. You could use cheap bedsheets to prototype the pattern and once you had that down, you'd cut the...

    New Canvas

I don't know about the going rate for these kinds of things, but I'd just like to have a larger version of the existing aft sunshade. I've often wondered how hard it would be to make it myself. You can buy all the tubing, fixtures, and Sunbrella online. I wouldn't attempt a camper back but if...

State of the pleasure boat cruising economy

One thing I observe where we boat is that big boats are not selling at all. There appears to be decent selling activity in the smaller runabouts and can boats, but almost none on the cruisers. Our local Sea Ray dealer has no 2011 Sundancers or Sedan Bridges on his dock, because he still has a...

State of the pleasure boat cruising economy

Where I boat, it's been busy. The two major marinas in the area (Aqua Yacht and Grande Harbor) have a handful of open slips, but that's it. Getting a table at the marina restaurant on the weekend means waiting in line. I don't know why it's different, but I'd hazard a guess that boating on an...

Florida for the winter Planning help

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I really like searay40dad's idea and would love to find a way to do this that didn't require a week to run the Tenn-Tom or risk being shot in the process. The Admiral might find that a little off-putting :smt021
