My 0.02, if you are looking at the Fountain 48, then speed is obviously important. I think the reported fuel economy of that model with the triple Cummins or Yanmars is really damned impressive, considering the 50MPH cruise on a 48' boat. The rooster tails are a bit much, but they are a...
Hello All,
This is a super long post, so thanks for any commentary, if you have the patience to read the whole thing.
So I had a 2002 41 Sundancer, and enjoyed it for 3 virtually trouble free years. I sold it a couple of years ago, and I have been putting around on my 26 Center Console. I...
I am eagerly awaiting some performance data on the 400ec. I have another season's worth of paint on my bottom, but I am seriously contemplating this for my next winter project.
My Raymarine RL80C setup with plotter, radar, autopilot etc cannot seem to lock on a compass heading, even after going in circles for what seemed like an eternity in calibration mode. This leads me to believe that my Fluxgate Compass is faulty.
Apparently some on the board have had issues with...
Yeah.. Terrible Idea.
I was going to repower with C12 Cats or possibly QSM11s. Mind you, I am no diesel mechanic, so it would be "hire it done" time. I was figuring a 50k offer for the hulk, but yeah figure 20k to move it to Beautiful NWI. I was thinking that I would essentially have a "new"...
I have located a 1999 540DA with bad engines, at National Liquidators in Ft. Lauderdale if you are wondering. It has been for sale for quite some time, and I have actually looked at the boat in person. It is not in terrible shape, but it is neglected.
So I have been pondering the idea of low...
I think there is more to this cord than just the six conductors. I could be wrong, but with all of the function on that handset, I would think there is more to it.
Just called Raymarine. They will fix the handset from my 230 for a flat $149. Seems wiser than blowing 500-600 on the upgrade to the 240.
Any opinions on this? 7 day turnaround they say.
Although the guy on the phone said 75.00 Website says 175, and I just recalled and they say 149.00
Nice...
I am sure the rotting cord to the handset has affected more than just yours truly, as it seems to be a known issue.
I am wondering if upgrading the Ray230 to Ray240 is a relatively simple swap. Has anyone done this? Do the cables interchange for the interface into the rest of my Raymarine...
Thanks for the insight everyone. I actually called Chicago PD marine unit, and asked them what the deal was. They said if they catch you even loading or unloading there, they *can* give you a ticket.
He sort of indicated that if you were quick and safe, they probably wouldn't but they could...
Hello all, I have a trade show in September at the Hyatt on the River in Chicago. There are a bunch of customers/friends that will be there, and I was contemplating taking some afternoon/evening cruises up and down the river. It would be much easier if I did not have to negotiate the lock every...
I am in Michigan City on Trail Creek. Mateys is fun if you like live music and a bit of a rowdy atmosphere at night. We hit Chicago several times a summer, and also go to Hammond, New Buffalo, and up around South Haven and Saugatuck at least once or twice a year.
Lake Michigan is great fun...
I am not speaking of the 420 in New Buffalo, actually it is a repo 420 in Kentucky, so I gotta probably budget for transportation. I have a broker who says he "Has a guy" on my 410, and I would probably be looking at a roughly 30k upgrade cost.
Yeah a 48 would be the sweet option, but that is...
Got the 410 this year, and I really think I would like a bit more performance as well as a hard top. So I have stumbled across a 2004 420, and while I really would like to get to a 460 or 480, this 420 is priced pretty well, and equipped like I like.
SO here are the stats
2002 410 with 3126...
Have you considered a 410. A 380 will be hard to find with diesels, and the 410 adds a door separating the mid cabin, and a second head.
Just a thought. If you do get a diesel boat, watch out for mid to late 90s CAT 3126 engines as they were prone to some soft block issues as well as other...
Got to the boat last night, water was trickling from the discharge. So I shut off air and pump, went into the bilge, and checked the strainer as it was pretty bad the last time I cleaned it. (Two weeks ago) Nothing of consequence in the strainer, so I though uh oh... Pump rebuild with a...
