Searay 230BR Bravo III - boats been running great. Just had it bottom painted (related?) and first afternoon of tubing after the bottom paint (30 min into the event) started hearing a metalic clanking. Sounds like what I would say was a very load valve slap but it does not happen in neutral...
Thanks for the info - just what I was looking for. I'm going to use the pellet bait with a shrimp attractant oil (blend of several different fish oils). We live towards the end of wollachet bay so it will be a quick trip up top Maury Is. I've ehard from several that is where to go, h=just...
Anybody out there know of some good shrimping spots in Marine area 11 (Vashon Island area)? I've been crabbing for years and am going to try shrimping this year. I live on the water in Gig Harbor so rather than fight the lines at boat launches on the Hood Canal I would rather stay local.
If you...
Great info. I hadn't opened the bimini in a couple of years - it is zippered and it did come from Westland. It is #6053 Med Blue if anyone out there has one they want to get rid of. Otherwise I will probably have a local shop (Greg's in Gig Harbor has done me well in the past as another...
Looking for a to enclose the stock bimini (front and sides) on my 2001 230BR. There are snaps already on it so I know the pieces must be out there somewhere. Any ideas?
I am in the process of upgrading my sound system on my 230BR. Stock as follows

Tower Speakers (2): Phoenix Gold Zr6.5
Amp: Clarion APA2104 (90W - 2 channel)
Way underpowered - added so far (for ~$350 with some eshopping)

Got a 2001 230BR with 5.7 merc, BIII. WOT is 4800RPM - what do people recommend for a high speed cruising RPM (30-45 minutes at a time)? I've been using ~80% but wanted to hear other opinions
Haven't actually cruised the canal yet but Alderbrook is a great resort. Beautiful setting, good restaurant, spa and pool - boat ramp nearby and large dock. Next door is the Gates' and Nordstrom's compounds (usually put on a great fireworks show july 3rd). Late summer there is good (fairly...
Those sound like great ideas and we will definitely check them out - looking forward to exploring the freshwater side of our area. We are on a buoy in Gig Harbor - anyone have any South Sound ideas without having to trailer?
I have a 02 230BR that I purchased and installed San Juan cooling (block and risers) last year - previously a fresh water boat. Very good instructions - easy to do with basic mechanical knowledge and tools. Highly recommended - search the net for prices, there is a wide variety. Good luck
For any of you non overnight capable boats,
We live in Gig Harbor and for the last several years my family and I have been enjoying day trips to Cutt's Island, Home, Longbranch, and Blake Island. My wife is getting a little tired of the same trips so I am looking for suggestions. We have an...
I have a Samson Sports Edge tower on my 230BR - looks great, fold down easily and all in all I would highly recommend it.

I am refinishing a BIII with some corrosion. 2 questions:
1- I have sanded through the paint and then some but still have some pits. Should I keep sanding or use a dremel to try to get the rest?
2- If I do the later should I use bondo to create a smoother finish before painting?
Thanks for the quick reply. I just talked with Mark in service at RoussoMarine and he said they do use Trilux 33 on the BIII. When I told him about your boat being serviced there and said they would not use the 33 but used something else - he checked with another service manager and they...

I see in another thread dated 3/10 that you said Trilux 33 was the best paint for a BIII but now you say otherwise. Did you get new information or am I confused?
Ran it WOT the other day with just myself and properly trimmed I see 47mph by GPS. I am amazed at how touchy the trim is on this machine - apparently a finely tuned boat needs a finely tuned driver!
