Don't forget to check Craigslist! I'm not sure if lots of people use it in your area but in Maryland it is invaluable. I find tons of stuff on it and have seen numerous dock boxes for sale over the years. Even if you dont see one, you could post a wanted ad.

Bill, I also switched to NBOA in November. I was able to keep the same deductible and save over $600 a year!! Same coverage!!

I too have nothing but good things to say about MarineMax. When I have needed service, they have handled it promptly for a reasonable price. When I do service myself, they always make sure I complete the job correctly and have the proper tools. Our service manager knows us on a first name...

We love our 2004 280 with the 496. It performs great. It is more than adequate for the Chesapeake Bay and gives us reasonable fuel efficiency. We burn about 14gph at 25mph with 4 adults, full fuel, and full water. I agree with the two gas engines if you are going offshore but anything else...

Luckily I dont have any over-revving or burnt rubber smell.....That would suck!! I'll keep you posted on what is found when the prop is pulled.

My boat is a 2004 280 Sundancer with a single 496 mag bravo 3. On Saturday we were coming home from Herrington Harbor and when I came off plane to enter our marina, I noticed a strange vibration around 1000-1500 rpm. I could feel it in the shifter and feel it in the boat. I smelled excess...
