Fluxuating Engine Temperature Under Full Load

Unknown if it was intact. The T-stat housing was clean. The T-stat had a little corrosion on it, but not bad. It was indeed original. Since the boat was sitting so long in the water, possibly something (we have zebra mussels here) plugged the lower intake (???) or like you said, maybe...

Fluxuating Engine Temperature Under Full Load

Well - finally got around to replacing the thermostat and circulation pump. No luck - the engine will still move slowly between 170 (gauge indicated, so obviously not exact) and 195'ish when under a full load. Yes, the thermostat was installed correctly and the sending unit resistance checked...

Ordered both. OEM parts. I'll install them and follow up in this thread. Thanks. E

Fluxuating Engine Temperature Under Full Load

Agreed - it's one of those things you don't think of until you have issues. Would you suggest to do the circulation pump, too? E

Fluxuating Engine Temperature Under Full Load

Same age. I considered those, but didn't think the issue would just pop up, then go away. I was assuming that it would be more progressive. Not sure.

Fluxuating Engine Temperature Under Full Load

Hi, all. Searched for this exact issue and could not find anything much on the web that seemed to mimic the issue. Unfortunately the threads I found didn't have a resolution reported. My TBI Mercruiser 5.7 showed an odd symptom related to fluctuating temperature yesterday. It was...

Hollow/Soft Spot in Front of Captains Bench

I have a 99' 240DA and have noticed that it has noticeable soft or flexible area in front of the captains bench that carries towards the drain well near the step door (the well itself is solid). It definitely is hollow sounding compared to the other areas and has been present for 3 years since...

99' 240DA - Hull Flex Below Rub Rail

It's about a 8"-10" vertical surface from where the hull steps in, but is flat. You can tell that the flex diminishes when you move forward towards the bow curve (I assume the contour gives it strength). Thanks E

99' 240DA - Hull Flex Below Rub Rail

Hello, all. While waxing my boat with my power waxer, I noticed that when I passed over the porti-potty vent (not the main suction line - the 1" diameter vent line), it vibrated in and out. I shut off the waxer and pressed on the fitting, and the hull flexes a little. I noticed this on both...

    Cored Lower Hull - 99 240DA?

Hello all, Can anyone tell me if a 99 240DA has a cored lower hull (below the rub rail)? I know that the upper deck (balsa) and transom (plywood) are cored, but I'm curious about the lower hull sides, bottom, etc. E

WEST Repair System - Soft Spot Near Swim Ladder

Great - thanks. Yup - he was going to use heat lamps, etc. to dry it out, then use capillary action. The wood is still decently solid, is wet and I'm sure delaminated. He is going to chamfer the holes to get a better cavity to get it to sit in, then let cure and re-drill the holes.

WEST Repair System - Soft Spot Near Swim Ladder

CPES Repair System - Soft Spot Near Swim Ladder Hello, all. I have noticed a soft spot in our swim platform in between the mounting rails for our swim ladder. I discovered a few years ago that SR appeared to use almost NO sealant to bed the fasteners as they passed through the swim platform...

    99' 240 DA - Bimini Rivet Size

Hello, all - I'm curious if anyone can tell me the diameter/length of the bimini top rivets (retains the tubing to the tubing ends - I need to attach new pin lanyards) on my 99' 240 DA? I'd drill one out and check, but it'd sure be nice to know before I go down there so I can get them...

Bimini top rivet size - 99' 240 DA

Hi all. Im curious what the rivet size is on the lower bimini mounts. I need to drill them out to replace some pin lanyards and since the same rivet that attaches the lanyard also holds the tube to the mount I'd like to have everything in advance to get it done all at once.

Cabin Door Slider Replacement - Question

Hello, all. I'm considering replacing my cabin door sliders on my 99' 240DA. It appears (and from what I read), I have to remove the helm attachement points followed by tilting the helm back to get the door off and away from the tracks. How far does the helm need to come back and do I have to...

What the heck is this??? Midcabin wall panel - mystery hole/cut

I think the wall fabric acted as a 'filter' partially as it was exposed to bilge air - that and mold likely - but it's just a bit blackened - it looks this way on both sides. Oh well - I got some wood filler and will fill it with a putty knife on both sides for the hole, spray glue the fabric...

What the heck is this??? Midcabin wall panel - mystery hole/cut

What the heck is this??? Midcabin wall panel - mystery hole/cut

Yeah - I was wondering if the previous owner was trying to do something, but then I wondered why the fabric wasn't cut. I figure that the hole was put there before the covering fabric was up. I thought about it a bit more and thought that maybe when they were building it they ran the cable...

What the heck is this??? Midcabin wall panel - mystery hole/cut

Hello all - I have always noticed a small blackish stain on the rear port wall of our midcabin. I was down tinkering on the boat, so I decided to investigate further. Pressing on the area showed that there was seemingly nothing behind the wall fabric, so I climbed into the bildge and layed...

    Gelcoat Cracks - Advice Please

Hello, all. I'm getting concerned about the number of gelcoat cracks that our boat is getting. We purchased our 99' 240DA approximately five years ago, and at that time, there was one or two very minor cracks which I wasn't concerned about (coming off of screw holes that weren't...
