Sounds like proper trim will fix most of it, but this model is a little more difficult to keep level at slow speeds than it is on plane. I was embarrassed at how poorly I kept her straight the first few times I took her out, especially while leaving the marina at idle speed. With practice you...
Trying to make sure I understand and nothing is lost in translation. The 270 has a narrow beam and tends to lean port or starboard due to wind, weight. current or whatever. When I was new to the boat I had a hard time getting used to the trim tabs, but after a little practice I hardly notice...
How's traffic on the lake this season? It's encouraging to see lots of boats on the water. I am glad not to have the responsibility of a house there now but I miss the convenience of boating from the house. Sorry for the assumption that you were new to the lake.
Just saw your post. We actually just sold our property at the lake. We usually fished and played on the lower half of the lake. Hope you enjoy the lake as.much as we did. If you are new to the lake watch out for tree tops and floating logs. Will fish occasionally out of Chenehatchee (sp?) or...
It's easy to jump on the local gas stations, but they better make profit on a rising marlet while they can. No one seems to complain when prices fall and they have more expensive fuel in their tanks. Competition pushes them lower in a falling market. I am not in the oil business, but my...
Thanks John, I was bored last night and was wishing I was on the water, so thought I would share. It is a nice short trip, about all that I will try in this boat - other than going east to Apalachicola (didn't you do that for the Seafood Festival?). As many others on here, I enjoyed you...
Not much to see except for water, but that's enough when you aren't out on it. These were from a round trip to Destin from Panama City Beach we took last February. Open water to Destin and intracoastal back home. In case anyone needs a fix. Pardon the dock lines on the bow, and anything else...
I boat at Eufaula but not with my Sea Ray. I have a bay boat I use there. I use the Amberjack off PCB. It would be a neat trip across the intracoastal and up the river and back, but it would not be worth the time and expense at this point in my life.
Also, did you have extra weight near the stern? My 270AJ is well aware of extra folks or dive tanks aft. I thought my engine was malfuntioning out in open water once with about 3 ft seas because I couldn't get on plane. A little weight shifting and/or trimming and no problem.
Hello Muggs,
I bought a 270 Amberjack a little over a year ago (2008 model), and we have really enjoyed it. I also have a 22 ft bay boat, and the 270 did make me feel uncomfortable for a short while, but now I am as confident in it as I have been in any boat. In fact, my past experience probably...
All this talk about birth certificates has started to make me wonder about my own heritage. I mean my feet are much bigger than those little footprints that are supposed to be mine.
