    Batteries draining quickly

Thanks Dennis and Kaz, I'll give all of your suggestions a try this week. If you don't mind, one last question and then I'll let both of you get on with your lives. My on board charger is the original one installed you Sea Ray in 1987. According the manual, it is a smart charger and should be...

    Batteries draining quickly

Thank you for your reply Dennis, I appreciate the help. Regarding your first question; Currently, no the charger will not charge the batteries any higher that 12.6 volts. Last week I had the boat hauled and the bottom painted, prior to that the charger produced about 13.8 volts, sometimes...

    Batteries draining quickly

I have a 1987 340 Sundancer with three deep cell house batteries, run in a series. The batteries are charged by the original smart battery charger installed by Sea Ray. They show a charge of 12.6 volts when fully charged, but drain within an hour or so. I did not have this issue until I recently...

1986 340DA, Possible Interest In Buying

Mark, there was some very sage advise in the previous replys. I own a 1987 DA 340 and love it (of course I want a bigger boat, but who of us doesn't). My son owns a 1984 DA 340. Both vessels have been very good to us. To me, owning an 80's Sea Ray is like owning a Harley, it's a life style. But...

    340 DA coffee maker

Just curious, I have a 1987 SD, and I was wondering where they put your builti-in coffee maker. If you have any pictures of the existing coffee maker and woudn't mind posting them, that would be great. By the way, have you found something to replace it with yet. Thanks, Rich.

Installed a multiple bank battery volt monitor this weekend

Thanks Dave, gotta say, I owe it all to you. But I have to say, there's great pleasure in being on your boat doing little upgrades. My next project is replacing the original battery charge? with a new Genius 4 bank charger. Have you replaced your yet. Rich

Installed a multiple bank battery volt monitor this weekend

KRB64....I bought my meter through ebay, it's called "Scorpion", it was about $17.00 dollars with shipping. There was a couple of other styles, but this one seemed to work best for me. I picked up the switch from Radio shack, $4.00 dollars, I already had the wire and connections. I bought some...

Installed a multiple bank battery volt monitor this weekend

My thanks to SRC member, 88dancer300, for inspiring me to do this install. He posted his install last month and it seemed like a good idea to me. Some of the newer boat may already have this feature installed by the manufacture, but, my old "87" doesn't. Now I'm able to monitor the status of my...

    Batteries!

Thanks for your reply. Regarding your question, I intended to attach each leg to a single battery. I actually have four batteries, the forth one is a dedicated starting battery. I thought the term "bank" when refering to a smart charger meant a single battery. So, if I'm understanding what your...

    Batteries!

I hope no one minds if I jump on this thread with a question. I am currently in the process of replacing my three house batteries, these batteries are hooked up in a series and are charged the same way. The charger is the original, 35 amp, installed by Sea Ray. I also recently purchased a 4 bank...

    New Pictures

Boat looks great, I don't even seen anything wrong with the fenders. By any chance was your picture taken in the Rio Vista area.....back ground looks familiar. We were there this past weekend, and had a great time.

Adding a multi bank battery voltage monitor.

I may be a little late on this, just found the thread a couple of days ago. This looks like a clean installation. I noticed someone asked about a schematic in an earlier post. I was wondering if you have had a change to download it yet? Again, good job.

    Head meter problem

I agree with tbirdvet, you may have to clean the three probes in the holding tank, not as bad of a job as it sounds. It's not pleasant, but it could be worse. But, before you do that I would suggest to make sure the lights are not burned out. Have they ever worked? Good luck. R

    Stuffing Box

There is a possibility you have dripless seals, if you do, these cannot be tightened. If a dripless seal is leaking, then you have an issue to deal with. I'm not saying "never" but you shouldn't have to move the engine to replace the packing or tighten the stuffing box nut. But, having the right...

Sea Ray SSS 1993 63 ft

I just read your thread and looked at the speck sheet. WOW, looks like this is going to be a great home away from home. Good luck and I really hope it works out. If you don't mind my asking, how are you planing on getting it home? Are you going motoring it home or having someone else do it? If...

velvet drives fluid change anybody ?

I've been working on this same issue the past couple of weeks and some of what I found out may be helpful. I have twin 340's with BW V-drives, 1987 vintage. My transmission's take 4 1/2 qts. of ATF. Yours probably does too. When I extract the fluid thru the dip stick tube, the most I can get is...

Replacing a 6 Gallon water heater

I need to replace my 6 gal. water heater. I was wondering if anyone had a thought about the quality and/or difference between a Seaward heater and a Kuuma heater. Any input will be appreciated. r
