Well, we had planned to make the run last weekend (May 3-5); however, the raining and flooded river made us cancel. Very glad we did. The river flow is 10x normal with a TON of debris floating down river. It was a good safety call to not go. We are now trying to figure out when to...
What a dream that would be for me. Looks awesome. Nothing like seeing the kids pluck shrimp and fish out of the water. Good family memories being made right there!
I do not have my private pilot license; however, my bro is a commercial pilot who has taken me flying more often than maybe I should. His advice to me every time is "Let the plane do the work". What he means by it is that I tend to try to correct the path with a death grip on the yoke. Just...
The nicest marina is probably going to be Turtle Point Golf Club and Marina. See http://www.tpycc.org/ But, note, they are mostly a summer-time kind of place that focuses on the pool and golfing. Not sure what they are going to have going on this holiday season.
Note, Wilson isn't that long...
Yep, none of the above for me. My wife, brother, and I have watched the decline of the boat show for the past several years and last year was our last too. About the only ones left going to are Annapolis and Miami. Miami might be fun if we can get the time off work.
I have been using the poliglow on my sun-damaged 2000 for two full seasons now. Here are my "lessons learned" with two years experience now.
For anyone who has ever maintained a wood boat, they will be familiar with keeping up with varnished wood. Poliglow has to be treated almost like...
We have quite a bit of interest and conversation going at the regional forum www.southernboating.com. A direct link to the thread is at:

Another tip with the canvas is to get everything loosely attached with zippers only 1/4-1/2 pulled to a full zip. Once you have all the buttons on and the track in place along the windshield, then come back and zip all your zippers the rest of the way.
Awesome to hear that he came back asking for help! That is a win-win for everyone involved. Also, good job on your part to cut through the newbie smart-ass comments and really help him out.
When growing up on the Chesapeake, my parents had a rule to keep the running time limited to 6hrs with a start time of 6am. They called it 6 and 6. Most storms are fired up by 4pm. So, this gives time to make it to the final destination with some buffer time with daylight if something happens.
Well, between the boat, the boat gas, and the maintenance of boat ownership for the past three years, I have now officially spent more money "out of pocket" on the boat than I did in 10 years riding motorcycles...including hospital bill for my broken arm. On the plus side, I am seeing my family...
The previous owner of my SR had bought a cheap anchor from Walmart that was "appropriate for the boat". That thing wouldn't hold for crap. Bought a nicer one that was actually a touch smaller but with more pointed forks. It has held myself and a raft of five more through a thunderstorm. I'm...
I'm going to guess that a section of that will have to be cut out square and then a new piece put in. Then fill. It is a big job and should be left to the professionals. Look for a boat yard that does engine replacements where they have to cut the fiberglass to get engine swaps complete...
sorry we missed. I heard that it was a bit better and more wild than the last one. Water was warmer and location was better. We will be ready for the next one. Is there a June edition yet?
