    Ever have a car sealed?

I clean and buff my Audi S5 like I clean and buff my boat. I love it and either is a great excuse to smoke a good cigar for a couple of hours. Anyway, the dealer offered interior/exterior paint protection stuff is all BS. It's fantasy that you never have to wax your car again. That being said...

    Port Engine Alarm IAC

I've had both factory installed IACs go over the years on my 8.1 HO MerCruisers. It's a $140.00 part that took 15 minutes to replace. On my engines, the Smartcraft **** down the effected engine so I couldn't even start it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Official 380 Thread

Hi all, Have any of you had problems with the IAC (idle air controller) valves on your engines? My starboard one went 2 years ago, and my port one went last week. It's not a huge deal, costs $150 bucks and takes literally 20 minutes to replace, but it is a serious pain in the butt when you are...

    38 DA overhead light/breaker problem

Hi rogue, thanks for the reply. I've isolated the problem to a chaffed wire in the starboard harness. This is a bit beyond my capabilities so after all the July trips I'm having it taken care of by the experts, haha. I appreciate the help! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    2006 380 Dancer performance

I've got a 2006 38 DA with the 8.1 HOs. Her sweet spot is 3700 to 3800 rpms cruising at about 23 knots burning 36 gph. She's a great boat and will go through some serious stuff if you have to. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    38 DA overhead light/breaker problem

Hi all, I recently have had a problem with my cockpit overhead lights. I have a 2006 38 DA and have had no electrical problems. The overhead lights are out in the cockpit. The control panel breaker (pop up type) below the helm has tripped. When I reset the breaker, the lights work for less...

Looking for cleaning advice from blue/dark hull experts

Yes. And Yes. Solution: 1) Rotary buffer (makita is great) 2) Buff Magic 3) Pro polish That's all I do, and my 2006 38DA with a blue hull looks showroom. I switched from random orbital to rotary polisher with noticable better results.

Who are you? What do you do?

I've been boating since I can remember. I grew up on an island in the Niagara river and my dad always had a boat of some kind. Obviously power boats as sail boats don't do well in a 7 knot current heading for Niagara Falls. Anyway, I always enjoyed the ride, hanging out relaxing, while my...

    Official 380 Thread

I thought I would share a little of my experience with my 380 in some big (for me) seas. After spending 4 great days in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard with my wife and 2 daughters, we departed early Tuesday morning for our home port in Rhode Island. It's about a 3 hour ride, half in Vineyard...

Just a follow up - read a bit about this effect and I think it was the problem. I've been running with the forward hatch cracked an inch to get some ventilation and haven't had an issue since. Thanks for the info.

Any of you guys have trouble with your CO monitors? Mine seem way too sensitive. I can be warming up for 10 minutes at the dock without an issue. Then while I'm underway, they can start going off. I don't want to ignore them but if I reset them once, the issue seems to go away. If I was having a...

    Smell when filling vacuflush head

I appreciate the help, that makes a lot of sense. I'll start with sanitizing the fresh water system.

    Smell when filling vacuflush head

Thanks for your replies. Is it possible only the hose to the toilet is nasty and no place else in the boat? I have no problem with any smell at any other time from any other faucet. I usually use water from the fresh water tank even at dock, just fill it periodically. Should I try and...

    Smell when filling vacuflush head

I've searched the forums but can't quite find an answer to a small problem I periodically have. Every now and then when I raise the lever to fill the toilet with fresh water I get a nasty smell which I assume is from the holding tank. It dissipates quickly, does not happen every time, and does...

Marina did not winterize my boat. Need Advice...

I would hire a marine surveyor or engine specialist to critically examine any systems that may be affected by not winterizing it. This should be at the marina's expense.

shipping with hardtop / ON or OFF

I had my 2006 380 DA shipped from the Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada to coastal Rhode Island with the hard top on. Like others, props were off and electronics were off on a low boy trailer. The shipper had the entire route mapped and asked me to check out a low railroad bridge. I called a...

Hey guys, a couple questions: 1) A few times this season my carbon monoxide detectors have alarmed soon after leaving the dock. I'm in a pretty tight slip, but it doesn't take too long for my engines to warm up and leave, and the detectors alarm soon after I'm underway. I've tried running the...

I'm also in the NE. Did you store your boat outside this winter? It sounds like something warped, hopefully just the bracket. I can't imagine it would be too expensive to get another one. I haven't noticed any difference with my door but I was stored indoors so the temperature swings were not...

Hey guys, After many months of research, phone calls, and measuring, I went with the Nautley XL Dinghy Ramp. I think it's probably the best "non flip up" davit system available to counter the problem of the transom door being in the center of the swim platform. I was looking for a solid system...
