A friend of mine collided with a front bow pulpet on another boat and it stabbed thru the slider window / screen. Where is a good place to get replacments? Secondly are these hard to get out and service?
The boat is a SRV-245 sundancer model.
We are detailing a newly aquired 85' SRV-210 and found the vinyl to have mold / mildew stains. We tried magic erasers, scrub brushes, krud kutter, and also bleach. None of which will take them out. Any sugesstions on which chemicals to use?
Impeller replacement is the first step in cooling issues. If you have little or low flow from the drive to the housing, then the impeller is bad. If you burned up an impeller, you will need to take off every hose and find the busted pieces.
A good HD 30 will be fine, and also a 15w-40 diesel oil will work well too. If you can find shell rotella T 10w-30 diesel oil then that will work too. Changing it often is more important than the oil itself. You could essentially use a multi weight but it may burn off faster.
Looking inside the engine comparment, it appears the entire transom is only single thickness, then sea ray glassed in a double thickness only in the middle where the drive & engine goes. On mine the middle is firm and I can stand on the outdrive and there is little to no flexing. However where...
Beleive me, people are looking....and drooling!
This boat is going to one of the very best srv-200's in existence.......
Do you think it will be splashed before winter? Or do you plan to work on it all winter?
I need to know by tomorrow what I need to do if I plan to install a truck engine into an alpha one mercruiser. The old one is not fixable. Its a 350 chevy 260HP.
Something about flywheels, starters, and mounting ears I seem to read about is what prevents people from swapping.
No dice. It is a SRV-187 open bow rider. Not for me unfortunatly. The bimini cover is original and in terrible condition. Carpet and interior is in need of complete refurbishing, but the good news is the transome and floor are amazingly solid. Makes my furious I asked if I needed to bring...
Looking at a 1978 SRV 190. Has a new (reman) L6 165HP engine, has newer front seats in it, nicely polished gel coat. Comes with legal trailer. Has some type of canvas but the guy has not had it up so we can guess it is incomplete or damaged. Not sure....
Guy states he had a new engine...
The omc 800 stringer drive is 100% obsolete. You will not find parts for it.
If the boat comes with a complete parts crate then I may consider it.
If the tansom is shot and the price is good, you could buy it, and swap in twin 4.3L merc alpha's.
These engnes & drives will not yield a fun...
I know many will state this is not worth the effort, but why not. The back transom end is easy, no alterations needed. The front engine mount needs replaced further up and re glassed in. How involved is this? How good of quailty does this need to be tied into the stringers?
You will not be replacing the floor this season. Run it this year, and save the winter for this project.
When you pull the carpet, and start removing the rotted wood decking, you will see the stringers and bulkheads are also rotted. In which you will be getting into much more than you want.
Yes, I can move the transom with my bare arms by lifting the drives. On my glastron I can jump on the drive and not get any movement. Also if water goes above the swin platform brackets, water pours in like they are not sealed.
Need to check a quick value. Below is a list of issues.
You may recall my two threads on this boat. Today I finally got it on the water which was a total bust.
Short and sweet, here is what is wrong:
-Transom moves quite a bit when you pull up and down on the drives.
-Starboard 470 engine...
I have had mine since mid May. One engine is good with no leaks or overheating, the other leaks out the cam seals, but otherwise runs good. I have some fuel system problems on the one engine, and the transom on the boat is bad. I will be taking the boat back to the auction and selling it for...
