Downside of bypassing anchor windlass relay?

Just an update. I installed the new switch, adding the + & - leads to the existing leads on the relay. When I turned the switch on I was surprised to see the switch-pad indicator light illuminate at the helm. I also had control of the windlass from the helm. Used the boat again later in the...

Downside of bypassing anchor windlass relay?

I didn't know about that secondary relay. I'll install the switch today, and leave the helm switch connected, using it as the primary switch. The one I install will be used when the helm isn't working.

Downside of bypassing anchor windlass relay?

Yes, this is what I am planning. In the last 6 weeks I added a standard rocker for my trim tabs, since those switches stopped working, which were on the port switch panel. I also added two rockers for my bilge blowers, also on the port panel. Luckily, the starter rocker is working fine on...

Downside of bypassing anchor windlass relay?

My starboard switch panel on my 280 (soft-touch panel) is giving me problems. Specifically the anchor windlass sometimes doesn't power up. I replaced the windlass relay, but the problem persists. I bypassed the relay and it works fine, but only the footswitches. I can live with that, but I...

    Lofrans Marlin Windlass not working

I used the boat today and the green indicator light didn't come on at all. The helm up/down switches also didn't work. Luckily, the footswitches on the deck both worked. Hopefully the new relay will fix it, but in the interim I will have a working windlass using the footswitches.

    Lofrans Marlin Windlass not working

Did a little troubleshooting today and I wound up bypassing the relay. I ordered the relay you mentioned on Amazon and it looks like a direct replacement. The thing that has me scratching my head is that the green light on the panel soft-touch switch sometimes takes a few presses before it...

    Lofrans Marlin Windlass not working

I had checked that breaker and it wasn't tripped. I'm suspecting the relay. I'm wondering if the instrument panel indicator is energized after the relay (or solenoid) and that's why no light is showing. I'll check further tomorrow with a voltmeter. Also, there is a 5A fuse on the relay and...

    Lofrans Marlin Windlass not working

This just happened for the first time today. I pressed the windlass button on the instrument panel and the power light did not come on. I do hear the solenoid clicking in the engine compartment when I depress the button, so apparently power is reaching the solenoid. Of course the windlass up...

VacuFlush leaking from fitting at rear of unit

Well, if this works this will be one of the all time easy boat repairs. No tools needed! Just cleaned the surfaces and used the quick set 3M 5200 (or is it 5400?) and put it back together. I'll wait a day or so to check for leaks. Sorry for the out of focus photo.

VacuFlush leaking from fitting at rear of unit

Yes, I just found a guy on YouTube who had the same exact leak. Looks like it the grommet that holds the vacuum breaker in. Since the vacuum breaker is ok and it's only the grommet leaking, I'll try a quick fix with 3M 5200 and see if that seals it. Looks like the grommet isn't available...

VacuFlush leaking from fitting at rear of unit

I had a leak for a while now and after attending to all other minor stuff on the boat, this hopefully is the last job for a while. I took the photo using a mirror. It leak seems to be where the part enters the porcelain toilet. Wondering how to remove it and what part is actually needed. Is...

Awesome. I'll give them a try. It may very well be tweed, according to my wife.

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

No, any tag is probably long gone. Just the usual Sunbrella tag. I just emailed Sea Ray with my hull number, on the outside chance they might be able to look up the original order. Probably not, but worth a try.

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

I just replaced both oil lines on mine. The first replacment had a leak from the factory in one of the two hoses. Temporarily, I repaired the old hose, using hose clamps and high temp/high pressure hose. That didn't leak, although I wouldn't use it for long term use. The next replacement...

I'm I'm not sure I have tweed. I understand you can see black fibers in the tweed color. I really don't see any black. Looks like solid to me. What do you think?

Awesome and thanks. I'll take a look today.

What color is my 2003 Sundancer canvas color?

Great info Kevin. Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's the original canvas, and that it is Seamark. Luckily the prior owners only used the Bimini top, so the rest of the camper canvas is in good condition. The Bimini portion is on it's last legs, to say the least.

What color is my 2003 Sundancer canvas color?

I need to do a patch job that will last the rest of the season. Can anyone tell me the exact color name by looking at the attached photo?
