Transom or Stringer Rot issues, 88 Weekender

Just sharing the thread transom repair thread I started. Pictures near the beginning show a few signs of what to look for. http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/23289-1985-SRV270DA-Restoration As a note this damage was started from previous owner not resealing swim deck and trim tab fasteners...

Winter project #1 windlass install, questions.

Just sharing a response I had given to another windlass thread 3 months ago: No response so I'm posting what I did on our 85 270DA for ideas: On ours I took the anchor locker hatch away and replaced the existing pulpit with a longer one covering the opening. To securely attach and spread the...

We installed them on our race boat along with the oil pan drain hose so we pumped oil out of the drain plug when changing. Easy install. Different styles available, some mount to the exhaust manifold riser and some can be mounted to a bulkhead or other surface.

rebedding side windows and bow hatch

Digging in the garage I had found i used that same Dow Corning sealant for bedding -worked great. First step is the same for bedding side windows but there is a rubber spacer/gasket that pushes the panel (from the inside) against the frame and fills the gap.

rebedding side windows and bow hatch

I have removed an re-bed our 270DA side windows. Pull out the black rubber strip on the outside to access the screws. Not sure if it was done before by the previous owner but our screws were through the deck with nuts on the inside. I replaced them with new nylock nuts and off course needed a...

Not yet. We have had a very long heavy downpour and i saw water running down the wall about midway forward and under the storage compartment. I did notice the sliding door was damp and expanded from moisture, not sure if that was just because of humidity from being closed and the leak. It could...

Welcome Aboard! Been there with the hitting head issue but it's only been when I'm in a hurry checking on it at the marina and I don't slide the cabin entrance hatch all the way open - every dang time I forget it's not open and crack my head on the way out. :smt101 Harsh Captain - I trip and...

windlass install on late 80's 250DA? (1986 specifically)

Been there with the bouy trick in rough seas - gets old but still better than pulling the anchor up by hand. Not sure if your locker is bigger than our 270DA but 450' might be difficult. We are pushing the limit with the 30' chain and 300' rode. 99% of the time there is no issue but I have had...

windlass install on late 80's 250DA? (1986 specifically)

The new teak pulpit was made by Ship Shop Marine Carpentry in Fort Pierce Florida (772-215-9925). They did an excellent job for about half the price I found anywhere else in the country. I finished it with 5 coats of Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss. Thanks. I have to unlock the chain safety latch I...

windlass install on late 80's 250DA? (1986 specifically)

No response so I'm posting what I did on our 85 270DA for ideas: On ours I took the anchor locker hatch away and replaced the existing pulpit with a longer one covering the opening. To securely attach and spread the windlass load; I used (3) bolts through the deck with a backing plate and (2)...

Remove mildew stain from antenna cable

I've used a fiberglass hull cleaner like starbrite and wipe it down. Stays clean for a year or so and keeps the cable sleeve softer.

Glad to be of assistance, the more we can share together here the less of a learning curve we all have to follow. I know have another leak puddling on the starboard side in the back corner of the mid bunkroom. Thinking it's the windshield up above because I cannot trace any path of where it's...

86 Da 270 entry way sliding hatch / 3 piece. Material question

I'll try to remember to take some snapshots for you in the next few days. The sliding cover is basically one piece on top with two that fold out to cover the angled portion of the opening. I would just make it out of formica covered marine grade plywood like you said. Hard to tell what the...
