Hi all,
I have a 280 Sundancer.
Both engines have the same problem. They crank fine, and getting fuel - but no spark.
Is there a separate circuit for the coil? Different than the starting circuit?
I recently replaced some breakers and pulled all of the batteries, could I have left a wire or...
This is not a selonoid issue, I am by-passing that by jumping the pump.
While jumping, I used the wrong wire. There is green and blue. I jumped the green wire my mistake, which drove the drive to its end of travel going up. Dumb mistake.
The pump still runs, but the drive won't go down, when...
This is from a 2001 280 Sundancer. Purchased just over a year ago. S/N 000227. SEA RAY PART # 1810626. OEM SEA RAY ELECTRICAL SWITCH PAD STARBOARD MODULE.
My switchpad was going haywire, like many have reported. It was a guess whether it was the EIM or the switchpad. I guessed switchpad, and...
My shifter have never operated smoothly. And the tilt switches will sometimes not work.
I think I just want to replace the entire assembly, from the control box to the engines...I assume the tilt will just be simple wires.
Any advice as I plan on this project. And where to get parts?
Thanks...
This is a 280, with twin mercruisers. The port engine is having the problem, the starboard is fine.
Here are the symptoms of the port engine:
- Starts fine
- Running up to 1,500/2,000 rpm, fine
- Accelerating to get on plane, around 3K - will run fine for about 20 to 30 seconds - then the RPM...
Hi all, there have been numerous posts on this including myself when I replaced the panel about a year ago. I am hoping someone has some new insight into how to troubleshoot.
Here is the situation:
1) About a year ago, the panel started going haywire. Press for nav lights and the windlass...
On my 280 Sundancer, with twin 4.3 IOs.
During pre-start, ignition on, but not cranking - normally the fuel pump energizes and the low oil pressure warning horn sounds...neither is happening.
In doing research, I found there is an inline fuse for the pump relay...can't find it. But then I...
The keypad on my Sundancer 280 2001, is acting strange. Buttons controlling other functions, for instance, a light switch activating the horn.
I understand from MarineMax that the ECM and keypad should be replaced together. They are expensive and I am having trouble finding both...and there...
Starts fine. Usually gets up to 3,800 rpm range for a few minutes, then the problem starts.
The cycle is quick. First the hesitation, then the warning horn, then starts again...that is like 1 second, then 5 seconds later, the cycle repeats.
If I pull the RPMs back to 2000ish, the problem goes...
Hi all, have any referrals for any of these? I have a 2001 280 Sundancer and getting her spruced up.
1) Replace all of the pinstriping and decals...any ideas where to buy also would be appreciated?
2) Compound the hull and wax, full detail
3) replace the carpeting and put fake teak on the sole...
After some major engine work, we discovered the transom assembly has to be replaced, leaking and corroded. So I am looking for any kind of deal on a new one and need to buy right now. Any ideas?
Thanks, Mark in St. Pete FL
I have a 2001 Searary Sundancer with twin v6s Mercruisers and have just installed a Garmin CP with a NEMA2000 network. I'd like to to use the engine monitors on the Garmin, specifically tach, temp and oil pressure. Is there such a thing as new "senders" I could install? My engines do not have...
Before I call the mechanic out, I'm looking for some troubleshooting steps to try first. The last time it ran was a couple of months ago. At that time, it started right up, ran a few minutes, then died. Now nothing. The starter cranks strong. Just won't start.
What tips in order of...
Replacement cockpit cover for a Sundancer 280 - any ideas beside custom?
This is the cover that goes on the boat while not in use...covering all the glass and cockpit area. I lost my old cover...dumb move...and need to replace.

I just installed a terrific Garmin chart plotter and GFS10 fueld monitors on my twin 4.3 IOs. The last step is to hook up the fuel tank. I need the ignition switch and the fuel level. I pulled the gauge and have 4 wires. Does anyone know which two I need?
Thanks, Mark
Just overhauled the starboard 4.3 mercruiser engine. It had busted a rod. Mechanic said it was caused by too much fuel. He had the injectors rebuilt (it is throttle body fuel injected). Just 25 hours into the new engine, seems like the same problem has occurred.
Any ideas?
Btw, it is a...
Does anyone have experience with fuel consumption monitoring systems? I am looking to install on my 280 Sundander, with 4.3 Merc IOs. Any input would be appreciated. I am thinking about this for two reasons: 1) for optimizing fuel consumption with different loads/conditions, 2) if engines are...
