I did see a select at the dealership, didn't pay too much attention to it due to the substantial price difference. (The only models they had were new for anything I was interested in.) It did look more luxurious for sure. So the select would be a better way to go if planning to use it frequently...

So how much does one notice ~1 ft difference? I was looking through my 2009 book from the Sea Ray dealership.. are there any major reasons I should spring for a select or sundeck instead of a sport? I would probably end up spending more and getting an older model to upgrade to the select or...

what octane fuel do you guys run in yours? do you use any addatives or anything in addition to pump fuel?

How much knowledge did u have prior to purchasing the manuals? Do u do your own maint. Now that u have them?

Harrisburg pennsylvania. Are these similar to the shop manuals you get for cars? (Not the ones sold at auto zone, the real ones used by the dealerships)

How detailed are the service manuals? Are there classes that I could find that will give instruction on proper methods or is that uncommon?

Basically the way I want to handle this is I want to set aside an amount that I take out of each pay check all year long and form my "Boat fund"...

The one dealer I spoke to today does not do test rides on the water. I plan to keep searching for one that may though. Can you go into the service statement a bit more? Everyone seems to have skipped over this and every dealer I talk to says "oh all you have is winterization" which I know is not...

Ok, thank you for the advice, I am not as much planning for the chesapeake but it is an option I wanted to keep open. If not, so be it. Is it reasonable to visit planned locations and note the different boats people are using on those waters to get a full understanding of what is good?

i actually went to my closest sea ray dealer today. he asked the same questions. seemed to feel a 175-205 would be fine..

I also meant to include the possibility of the Chesapeake Bay. You might know that one :grin:... The chesapeake will be the worst. Is there somewhere that gives an idea of what each boat is set to handle? Or what helps one decide that?
