It does have a closed cooling system with antifreeze, but from what I understand, even that requires raw water intake to cool some portions of the engine. To answer a previous question, it's a 1998.
Thanks!
Thanks very much guys. Bravo III outdrive, fresh water cooled, brand new impeller, I don't think the risers and manifolds have been changed in some time (bought it recently, and although it was very well taken care of, I suspect the previous owner didn't replace those), 454 Merc. 7.1 liter, 310...
For about a month now, my 1998 270 Sundancer has been running way too hot above around 1,500 RPMs. My mechanic has flushed out the intakes and taken care of a couple other issues, but the problem persists. He isn't sure what it could be, and now wasn't to do an overhaul on the exhaust.

oil change
So, I assume I should adjust the intervals in the manual, now that the boat is getting up to double digits in age. How often in hours and/or weeks would you recommend changing the engine oil?
Thanks!
I just noticed that my recently purchased 1998 270 DA doesn't have an all around white light for night running (it has a remote spotlight up front, but I don't think that counts). I haven't taken it out at night because I just got the green and red nav lights fixed, so I only noticed the lack...
So I bought a 1998 270 DA (200 hours, fantastic condition, very well maintained) and noticed there's about a quarter to a half inch of water that accumulated in the bilge. The bilge pump isn't pumping it out.
This brings up two questions:
I assume that means that either (a) the bilge...
Hey guys, I've got a 1998 Sea Ray 270 Sundancer, and the big canvas enclosure with the eisenglass is turning into a real pain. I rarely, if ever, go out with the eisenglass still on, but I certainly don't like leaving it off and the cockpit exposed when I'm not on it.
So, I'm looking into...
1998 270
I just purchased a 1998 270 Dancer and so far, I love it. What would be everyone's best advice to give a new owner of this boat and what are the main maintenance issues to keep an eye on (other than Bravo III corrosion, obviously).
Thanks and I appreciate all of your expert...
