Hi y'all, the Admiral and are are spending a weekend in Cape May later this month. We'd like to split the return trip into two leisurely days and spend the night somewhere between Chesapeake City and Worton Creek. Any marina recommendations for us? I've heard good things about the Sassafras River but never been there. Optimally we'd like to have a restaurant or two to choose from within walking distance of the marina.

I can't wait to take my boat to Cape May this year! I would recommend Mears Great Oak. It is on Fairlee Creek which is right below Worton. Awesome marina with a pool, golf course, restaurant, and a tiki bar on the beach at the mouth of the creek. If you really want to be able to walk to multiple restaurants then Chesapeake City Inn would be a great place to stay but I think you might enjoy spending two days at Great Oak more than anywhere else in that part of the bay.

On the Sassafras. http://www.skipjackcove.com/
They have a restaurant and will water taxi you to a couple others.

If you're still looking, I have to recommend Osprey Point, in Rock Hall. Only go there if you want serenity. The place is immaculate, clean and beautiful, in a colonial style. The creek it is on is picturesque. And it's walking distance to the town of Rock Hall, which has some nice restaurants including waterfront places. They also have a tram to get you around, for $1 a person. Highly recommend Osprey Point.
